I don't see any water outside the stadium.

Um, no. We already have one less home game next year, I don't want to loose another one.

Governor says 9 dead in SC due to flooding, just don't see how this game is played in that state.

There were thousands dead in Louisiana after Katrina, and LSU still would've played the ASU game at home if LSU wasn't a triage.

I doubt it will need to be moved. I'm sitting in my office in downtown Columbia a mile from the campus. The city is pretty much shut down. I can hear constant sirens and helicopters.

This is not a Katrina situation. This was heavy, steady rain causing flooding, but there is no widespread wind damage, loss of housing, or power lines down. It was not a hurricane -- the wind hit maybe 10-15 mph. The vast majority of the photographs out there are from a handful of low lying subdivisions and intersections -- especially ones with lakes and creeks where small earthen dams washed away. Plus a few roadways washed away.

Don't get me wrong -- it's a serious emergency and I have friends who have lost cars and houses. It is not an emergency of biblical proportions.

We don't have trees down and we don't have a major loss of power.

The biggest problem is the water treatment plant is located next to the Congaree River -- so it is facing some flooding, although is functioning because it is on high ground.

We have running water -- we just have to boil it for the next 2-3 days. That's a problem at the university -- but again, it's a short-term issue.

The middle and end of the week are sunny. Everything will dry out and be back to normal -- except for the people whose homes were flooded. It will be a hard emotional week for them.

Too bad. Blame Verge for agreeing to play a "neutral" site game in the opposing team's home state and scheduling three other body bags. Maybe it will magnify our poor scheduling and finally create some change.

I don't see the point in the neutral site option. The only argument for it is competitive advantage. Like I mentioned earlier, Scar is 0-3 in the SEC. Is it really worth the time and money coordinating a neutral site game in just a few days so South Carolina doesn't feel at a disadvantage?

Your roadway infrastructure statewide has taken a hit. It would make traveling to/from the game VERY difficult.

ETA:

Currently 165 bridges and 393 roads closed. Many of which have sustained structural failure.

Did they reschedule the sec title game in 2001? How was there an open date between thanksgiving and the sec title game?

Yes, there was an open date. I know UF played after the regular season and apparently other SEC teams did also.

SC isn't scheduled to play in Baton Rouge until 2020, so obviously this can't happen

Again, no there was not. All games were cancelled after 9/11 and the SEC championship was pushed a week back so that all teams could make up that week. There was not a bye week sitting there

My understanding is that road and infrastructure conditions are poor and getting worse. But where are the Gamecock ranters? They're the only ones who can accurately inform us about conditions in Columbia.
