HCB, nice!

As for my feelings on the early entries, I have no problem with the top 2 rd picks leaving early. Landry, Beckham, Hill, by all means can go and I won't bp bat an eye, good for them. It's the 4th, 5th, and late rd picks that need to stay in school.

Im not defending them... just saying that the person that said that we lead the nation in players that leave early to go make a practice squad... was just flat out wrong. And its obvious that you dont follow them at the next level, so dont sit there and try to say this guy would of been cut and that guy would of been cut. When in reality you have no idea what youre saying. So just dont sit there and say stuff about our ex players in the NFL without knowing the facts.

And I get that you dont follow them enough to defend them or whatever, yet you still can criticize and berate them?? Without knowing the facts?

And then you try and make me look like a douche just because i follow our players in the NFL, when you were the 1 spewing out a lot of bullshite that was flat out wrong. Awesome bro awesome. A simple google search of the players would tell you all you needed to know.

Ha man youre naive... Simon was doing great. And making an NFL roster and expect playing time is pretty freaking hard, especially on the team that has the NFLs best DBfield. Yet youre some what mocking him for that... And the 6th DB on any team is a nickel / dime guy that would see a good but of PT.

I doubt that anyone outside of the rant believes a 10 win season is a ruined season.

These guys left for money. Plain and simple. The problem is that they are arguably leaving more money on the table to be mid-round picks as juniors and leaving LSU with talent voids.

As much as I love college football, I wonder if everyone would be better off if football had a farm system similar to baseball. Guys like Ego have no business on a college campus. He would have been much better served to start playing semi-professionally right after HS.

Eventually, that will happen. The new CBA threw things off balance. Kids used to stay in school with 3rd-5th round grades to get an extra mill or two. Now they're coming out. The problem is, there are only so many picks in a draft. You can't have 70 guys getting 3rd round grades and all of them entering and them still being 3rd rounders. Eventually, the grading will have to change; these guys will be pushed to the 6th/7th rounds or FA. Then, they'll start staying again.

No it is more like trying to berate your wife by stating she is not smart enough to play the piano, when you can't play the piano either.

I would place money on the fact that guy has never met Ego nor has any factual information relating to his intelligence. Yet he determines his intelligence by the way he looks.

No one here knows the circumstances of Ego's academic woes, if any. Yet virtually everyone chose to attack his character and intelligence. These are the same ones pining for the next 5 star to choose LSU, just to be later ambushed and vilified if he ever suffers a set back. I assure you this fandom is one of the reasons some Louisiana recruits are not as smitten with LSU as we are. There is a laundry list of players our "fans" have turned on.

I don't really think so. He's a decent player, but he only had 1 sack this year (and it was against Kent State). He hasn't done that much and some of our younger guys have looked good in there. We'll get to see what the next guy up can do and look toward the future.

Dude he was by far our best run stopping tackle. Iowa gonna run it 75% of the time anyway, they may never throw it now....

You don't understand comparisons, do you?

He's saying Ego doesn't seem like a Rhodes scholar, insinuating he's not smart (which isn't a reach since he's become academically ineligible). Can only smart people make that comment? If I'm bad at sports, can only people who are good at sports tell me I'm bad? There would be no more sports reporters if this were true and the rant would cease to exist.

Exactly, this thread turned quickly on ego and all early enrollees to the draft when few if any know the circumstances surrounding them. This is pathetic.

We do not know their personal issues, correct. But we do know some circumstances. These athletes are given EVERY opportunity to do well in the classroom. We know their facilities. We know they have special tutors. There are things that can be deduced when an LSU athlete has academic issues.

Some folks just never will understand that there are definite cultural differences within every country. Everyone's values are not the same. Some don't really care that much about an education. Some think that when they get "the money" all their problems will be over. Don't be critical until you've walked a mile in their shoes. Yes, they have lessons yet to learn the hard way. But, so do those that are too harsh on them. We all have different lessons to learn. Go Tigers!

So it is OK to call another person's intelligence in to question when you are not very intelligent yourself. And with never having met or talked with that person. Is that your argument?

When they do unintelligent things, sure. Is that not what happened here?

I would call a person's athletic ability into question if he failed to run a mile. What's the difference?

Take Iowa and the points and enjoy watching our D front seven getting pushed back 3 or 4 yards every play.

However, aren't all academic issues "they're" personal issues? I recall everyone jumping on JR because he supposedly had academic problems. He was called stupid, dumb, selfish, basically the same as Ego. It was later determined it was not true. There was another player that had undiagnosed dyslexia that was at the root of his problems.

Just curious? Have you ever gotten a bad grade in a class that you gave you best in? Have you known of anyone who has? Do you believe outside influences beyond your control could affect your academics in a negative way?

I'm just saying he wasn't all-world, okay. He had 1 tackle (an assisted tackle) against aTm for the game and we won by 24. We're playing Iowa who is 8-4 in the Big 10. Three of their losses were by 10+ points. Yes, we would be less affected if we were playing a passing team because Ego didn't get much of a pass rush, but we're not playing Bama here. It's a challenge, but if we're developing our recruits, we should have a capable person ready to go.
