would be a black eye on all the scouts and analysts to say they greatly misevaluated Simmons. He will still be a high draft pick and stay in the league for a number of years just based off his high draft status. NBA teams don't like to admit these kind of drafting mistakes and tend to hang on hoping the player somehow develops and justify the high draft pick to some degree. Could see him slipping in the draft but some team is going to take a chance on him early in the draft due to his high pre college evaluations.

Simmons might have vanished in some games and didn't play defense, but he did far more for this team than Jones did. Give it up, Collis. Your boy is a joke.

I think Mickey has the most upside of all of them if he develops an outside shot.

He has the least potential of the three. Simmons has far more potential.

I know the NBA is basically all offense, but there are two sides to basketball and Mickey is light years ahead of Martin and Simmons when it comes to defense. He is an awesome shot blocker and a good defender in general. He is a great rebounder as well. He is timid on offense at times, but is a good scorer with a pretty good shot.

Martin is extremely athletic and could be a great offensive player (he can also be a good rebounder).

Ben is an elite passer, great rebounder and a consistently good scorer who can handle the ball. His defense though is seriously lacking considering his athleticism. He is the most athletic of all of them. I just wonder how his game will translate because he doesn't attack on offense as much as you think he would and in the NBA, the talent gap won't be as big. Lots of potential though...

he plays much better defense than Simmons
Simmons was asked to be an interior defender at LSU, and he did not do it well. However, when he played wing defender his defense was more than adequate because of his long reach and quick hands. Simmons will be fine in the NBA, much better than either Mickey or Martin.

Martin was better than Simmons last year and our record proves it. We had all of the same players last season. Swap Victor and Mickey. Everyone on the team got worse playing with Simmons than they were last season. It's because Simmons was obviously a selfish player. If you people who did not actually watch the games are commenting, then just shut up. Don't look at Simmons stats only. Besides they were not as next level as advertised. The nba sees the truth.

Martin went all SEC, and averaged 17 points and nine rebounds while playing strong defense. He lead us to a victory over Arkansas on the road, when scored 20 plus points to lead us to the NCAA tournament. He was apart of a good team that went 22-11. He did not chase his stat line AT ALL.

Simmons gave us 19 points 11 rebounds, with no defense whatsoever. He also played out of position and had to have the ball and most of the game, forcing Quarterman and gray to play as off ball shooters. He lead us to a horrible 19-15 record and we were a broken team, with zero chemistry by the years end. HE OFTEN CHASED HIS STAT LINE, many times in games we were losing/lost. The nba sees this, and knows he may be a selfish rajon rondo/carmelo anthony type of player.

Martin had the ball in his hands way less than Simmons and he was far more productive

For those that keep saying that Simmons is not a hard worker, well he just didn't come out the womb with his skillset. The kid worked his arse off to get where he is at. Is he perfect? No. Does he has more improvement to do? Yes.

With Lebron James as his mentor in the NBA, Simmons will soar. He has already bonded with Lebron and just sit back and watch his development. I say he will have the same incline as Anthony Davis did when he came out of Kentucky.

I think you all underestimate the athleticism if players in the NBA. They have plenty of bug guys to guard a one dimensional player. I love how he somehow will majicalky learn to shoot. They have plenty of hard working players who struggle for years and don't get a better shot. Simmons will not be the biggest guy on the boards in the NBA and he won't make a living getting layups, like in college.
Simmons is loaded with size, athleticism, and POTENTIAL. That's what he's being drafted on.
JJ had no clue, but it didn't help that Simmons didn't play with more effort A LOT of the time.
One and dones are not a good fit at LSU with a weak coach.

Couple all of this with him going to a bad lottery team, and there is a large chance of him not excelling for years.

Ben put up a ton of empty stats.

This. I wish no ill will upon him and hope he does well at the next level. That being said, he better put in some work like Jordan did in his youth to get to the next level. He was easily the most unimpressive all-world star I have ever seen. And the lack of success this year is on the whole team, not just Ben....but a superstar would put them on his back and mud through it. I never saw that fight from him. That may be unfair to the kid, but it is just an observation. I was very underwhelmed.

Simmons was a horrible perimieter defender also, he got beat for threes, and lay-ups consistently when guarding the perimeter. Those little guys burned him.

He doesnt move his feet at all, and is late.

Simmons failed. He is a bust Get over it. Lots of great high school players just don't translate to the next level. My opinio. LSU will be a better team next year without him.

Great. An evaluation from the worst and most dispiriting loss of his career. Sounds legit.

Simmons had one year to play somewhere until he could be drafted. He chose to play at LSU. Instead of being grateful we can claim him as a Tiger and enjoying the first 19/11.8/4.8 season in CBB we have self proclaimed experts bitching about all the things he didn't do or is not good enough at age 19. Threads like this openly supporting the perception that his draft stock is falling just highlight how shitty some of our "fans" are

One thing is for sure, as long as JJ is the coach, LSU won't get another one and done. I don't think they could have handled this season any worse on the national stage.

My god...now Simmons is a fringe NBA player who will only stay in the league based off his high school evaluation???

He'll be the first pick in the draft and an instant starter. His skill set is ultra rare in the league. LSU fans are crazy if you can't see his strength and elite athleticism. The guy was constantly getting incredible post position against every team he played. Constantly pulling down offensive rebounds. Constantly asked to guard opposing centers while trying to stay out of foul trouble. Constantly making the right play to set up his teammates. His court vision is already at an elite level. His ability to rebound and lead the break is enought to keep him in the league for years.

To compare him to Mickey and Martin is insult. Mickey is a 6'6" center who isn't a very good man defender and has an extremely limited offensive game.

Even if he never develops a consistent jumpshot, he'll still be a perennial NBA starter and one of the best athletes in the court.
