Draft Express new scouting evaluation on Simmons

When you watch his lack of effort and limited skillset on this scouting report it's easy to see why we were a better team with Mickey and Martin. See link below.

People like you need to stop it. He was better than Martin or Mickey. He put up numbers we will never, ever see a freshman do again at LSU, or possibly anywhere. This team tanked because Johnny just didn't have clue #1 how to get them to play together or give effort more than 50% of the time.

and Martin were fundamentally much better college players. Could see Simmons being better in the pros if he puts in the work and gets his mind right. I think Mickey has the most upside of all of them if he develops an outside shot. Not everyone can develop an outside shot though.

Ben put up a ton of empty stats.

He's gone.
Let it go.
You're an idiot.

It's a big difference when you put up number and lose compared to when you put up numbers and win...jones didn't shoot not one lay up or free throw this season if you not self motivated or excited to play division 1 college basketball no matter what school it is then your not a basketball player you just play basketball

People like you are trash . So what, because we didn't make the tournament you're hoping a 19 year old kid's draft stock falls?? He did all he could and played his arse off. He's going to be drafted #1 at the least #2 because Brandon Ingram is on fire so far. He has a 100mill dollar shoe deal lined up as well. I'm pretty sure he's training already and will easily develop a midrange jumpshot .

The effort you go through to make excuses for Jones is astounding

He has the least potential of the three. Simmons has far more potential.

I don't think JJ is the coach for LSU. Most of this season made me sick. But I actually believe there are people who hope BS isn't drafted #1 so they can claim their thoughts on Ben are correct. It's mind-boggling.

Raw per game numbers are for casual fans. Simmons actual impact on each game did not live up to the numbers.

He will be a top 5 pick no matter what anyone says. He is a freak of nature with unlimited potential and the NBA knows it. He will be a superstar in the NBA and for people to hope he fails is sour grapes. It was obvious LSU had locker room issues out of Ben Simmons control. This team had a virus in the locker room, and had no leadership to overcome it. JJ lost this team and it showed in the last ten games. At the end Blakeney a true freshman was the face of the team. JJ had no clue how to make this team play and he was not up for the job to get it back. I am a big JJ supporter, but I have realized he is not the right guy for this job. Next year will be a lame duck year unless JJ overcomes his ego and lets someone help him game coach. Otherwise he will coach one more year and will be fired.

he plays much better defense than Simmons, much tougher player and more heart and leadership. If he develops an outside shot he could be a very good NBA player. If Simmons develops an outside (or inside) shooting touch then he would still have all his other weaknesses. Both have a lot of rough edges to their respective games so both have a long developmental process to go through.

I blame the vendors. If they had more enthusiastically hawked popcorn, peanuts, etc., that would have led to more satisfied fans, more noise, which would have led to a better team effort.
Or, on the other hand, does somebody always have to be at fault?
Which seems more likely?
(a) while Simmons is an amazingly gifted athlete, he's not ready to be a dominant player in the NBA. Wasn't ready a year ago, isn't ready now. However, he will be a fantastic complimentary player, and in time, could be a dominant player.
(b) Simmons is all-world. Johnny Jones misused him. Simmons actually does have a good jumpshot, but Jones fricked it up by changing his mechanics. Had Simmons gone to Kentucky, his stats would've have been even better, and his game complete, along w/ a serviceable jumpshot.

Also, understand that the media (like Nick Saban) can never be wrong, so if they appear to be wrong, they will tear down somebody or something to prove they weren't wrong. Because they can't be wrong.
So, all the "experts" (NBA writers, etc.) said Simmons was a surefire number one pick. Now they're backing off of that. Why? Well, because obviously, he received horrible coaching at LSU, or, he fooled all the scouts and really is a big pussy who won't play hard.
It can't be, well, he's got a great, unique skill set, we'll have to see how it blends at LSU, let's see if he has a jumpshot (he doesn't), etc.

yes.
it seems people continue to assume that the HC is totally responsible for 100% of a players attitude. it's like holding a teacher 100% accountable for a students grade. it's a two way street and I don't care what profession you are in ATTITUDE is the single most important characteristic of a successful person. sure, talent is essential but there are way more successful people, in any field, due to attitude and work ethic than simply talent. and there are tons of super talented people on the side line. today, in professional sports a talented individual can still get rich (comparatively) on his first contract and that's why there are so many busts. imo, i'd rather have a team of 5 overachievers that played team ball than a group of uber talented individuals that coast a lot.

The video shows otherwise
I want Jones fired, but you're reaching to defend the player here
