If Harris is the QB, LSU is underrated.

So the guy who said our lack of a pass rush in recent years is cause for us to be overrated yet he picks A&M as underrated and one of his reasons is Chavis, the guy who made our pass rush nonexistent.

i agree with the statement, but i just don't understand how we are the only team being criticized for this when the teams are in the same boat. there are new QBs all over the division, but we are overrated because of it. how about pre-season #3 Bama? or auburn? or ole miss? etc..

We won one game against power 5 conference teams. Wow. I didn't know we sucked that bad. I remember winning 5.

Eta: read wrong. Stupid form.

When your QB play is as consistently shitty as LSU's is, you don't get the benefit of the doubt that it will be different this season

shite, Bama may have to start a true freshman, but they're a lock for the playoff.

It's just so stupid.

I'm no Bama fan, but they started a QB last year that had never played a meaningful snap at QB and also was under a brand new OC, and yet Blake Sims played well and they made the playoff.

Not saying they can do it again with a new QB, only that they did it last year. Maybe that's why Bama gets a bit more credit than we do.

Hopefully Harris will light it up this year, but I don't really blame the pundits for withholding their love until they see the improvement on the field.

sims was a senior last year, now Bama will likely start a true freshman. They are not in the same situation as last year.

yes, Sims was a senior, but he never played a meaningful snap at QB before last year, so he had essentially no experience. And he was under a brand new OC, so you can't use the "he was in the system for 4 years" line.

If you think Sims' age was the reason he succeeded last year, go with that. I'll credit coaching, in addition, of course, to Sims' talent.

All Sims had to do was throw it to Cooper.

Nothing new, its all pretty fair criticism. We are an enigma of a team, If our passing game is still bad and Steele turns out to be a terrible hire we finish near the back of the SEC West pack. However, If our QBs mature and can complete around 60% of their passes and our Defense doesn't skip a beat with the coaching changes... Hello playoffs and 4 year cycle.

Malzahn took a 1st year starting QB (Newton) and directed an offense that won the NC. He also took a 1st year starting QB who was previously a DB (Marshall) and played in the NC game. Last year AU went 8-4, but it wasn't all Marshall's fault. He had 20 TDs passing to 7 Ints. He also scored 11 TDs on the ground. Now they bring in a guy who has limited game experience, but in the one game he did start last season he performed pretty damn well against one of the SEC's "up and coming teams" this season, Arkansas. Johnson may not be turn out to be a great QB, but history tells us that Malzahn is going to get good play out of his QB and that they are going to score points. Defense is their biggest question mark

Too bad Johnson isn't a JUCO QB.

On the other hand, 5 out of the last 6 years LSU has struggled with QB play. Every year we hear Les say "next year is going to be different" when it comes to the passing game. Yet, recent history has shown that LSU's weak link year after year has been its passing game. Maybe (hopefully) that changes this season, but why should anyone EXPECT that to be the case?

Quarterback play was fine in '09, it was the running game (aka OL) that was absolutely awful. 2011, we didn't throw for many yards because we had several short fields, but we completed 65% of our throws with 20:5 TD/INT and had one of the top redzone offenses in CFB. 2012 was pretty bad the first half of the year, but Mett rebounded strongly in the last four games of the season, passing for over 2500 yards. 2013 was 2013.

Out of the 7 CBS guys: - Nobody picked us 1st or 2nd in our division - Only 2 picked us 3rd in our own division - 4 picked us 5th or 6th in our own division
And yet they all said we are the most overrated team. Explain to me how that makes any sense
