WHAT?! Do you realize how non-competitive the ACC is compared to the SEC, let alone the SEC West? Last season's FSU team was good, but not great (they had a ton of close scares). Still, he was able to navigate through the conference to the playoffs.

There is no objectively logical reason for him to leave FSU to come to LSU unless he (a) loves LSU that much and/or (b) is unhappy at FSU

Well it really depends on how you look at it, I think the playoff committee would be more forgiving of SEC losses than ACC losses.

If you lose a game or two in the ACC you're out of the playoffs.
If you lose a game or two in the SEC you can still make it easily.

However admittedly with 4 spots now I think it's easier in the ACC than it was before with only 2 slots with the BCS.

I'm a little surprised by the talk, even from guys like Matt Moscona that usually try to be a little more realistic in terms of expectations, that are all saying that LSU could just "not take no for an answer" from Jimbo. What does that mean? I'm going to assume they aren't advocating the use of force, so I guess they just mean offer him more money than FSU. ACC schools typically don't pay as much SEC schools, and that's of HCs as well as money for assistants. But FSU could put up a significant amount of money if they wanted to. I'm sure we could outspend them, but just for example, what if they're willing to pay him 15 million a year? They could afford it, and we can afford to outbid them at 16, but would that be smart? I don't think so.

I know Jimbo was OC here for a long time, but all that talk about "He loves it here!" is almost always bullshite.

I am not a fan of hiring Fisher because I clearly remember calling him Jimblow Fisher because his play calling was not overly impressive at LSU. Was he being held back by Saban and Miles? Does he call the plays at FSU?

Better chance to get in the Playoff from SEC vs Acc

This is completely false. FSU will have a MUCH easier time getting to the play-offs every year than LSU will. FSU has the name to get a top 4 ranking if they win out or have only one loss so long as they win their conference. That is not in question, look at their past few years results which include a trip to the playoffs and a NT. If you think the ACC has harder competition than the SEC then I just don't know what to tell you. I get that the SEC title has more weight behind it but FSU winning the ACC will get them into the play-offs every single time so long as they don't do it with more than 1 loss. LSU is in the same exact boat but it is much harder to do that in the SEC.

But why would Jimbo leave FSU for LSU?

1. Fisher has previously expressed a love for both Baton Rouge and LSU. He spent seven seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Tigers and therefore knows the ins-and-outs of the institution.

2. Recruiting base. Say what you want about his recent recruiting success in the state of Florida, but most of this has been the direct result of ongoing ineptitude in Coral Gables and relative mediocrity in Gainesville. When Florida, Miami, and at least one other FBS program is succeeding, the state of Florida becomes one of the most highly contested states for recruiting.

In Louisiana, there is no other major in-state program to challenge LSU in recruiting. It's much easier to land blue chip prospects when there is no local competitor that presents a threat to securing a commitment.

3. SEC pedigree. Yes, the ACC is much easier to dominate, but the fact remains that the SEC is the preeminent conference in college football. If you can win in the SEC, then you can win anywhere. In a sense, a coach's success at the collegiate level is only validated by how well they can succeed against the best of the best. And the best is still the SEC.

4. Arrogance/Challenge. Fisher, like most elite coaches, possesses a degree of arrogance and cockiness. He thinks that he is the best at what he does and therefore would like nothing better than to prove it against the most revered coach in college football, Nick Saban. Also, as a former understudy of Saban, Fisher probably possesses some sort of desire as the student to surpass the master.

5. Money. Florida State cannot, and will not, ever match LSU in a bidding war. The university does not possess the athletic revenue and sheer monetary pool needed to compete with LSU. Period.

6. New surroundings. Amid all of the legal allegations and criminal charges which have arisen among Florida State players, Fisher likely has a desire to separate himself from the "black mark" he has received while in Tallahassee.

7. Potential. LSU's ceiling for success is much higher than Florida State. When you combine a number of the above factors, you realize that LSU has much greater potential than Florida State.

Because both Jimbo and his agent are on record as saying there are only two schools they would listen to if they came calling.

One is LSU, the other is Bama.

Good list.

I would add duck hunting.

I don't think Tallahassee is a flyway.

Geez some of you don't reside in the real world. LSU would be a lateral move from Fla St.

False. LSU has proven it will spend money on assistants. Jimbo has fought with his AD on this issue at Florida State. LSU is a top 5 coaching job in the nation. FSU is top 15.

This is my favorite. I'd be shocked if LSU didn't have just as many, if not more, arrests than FSU during Jimbo's tenure as HC.

And that list is a joke

1. Jimbo is an SEC guy.
2. Saban screwed him over UAB job.
3. He gets away from his nutty ex wife who let us just say embarrassed him during his tenure in BR. He probably would like to be in a different town away from her.

I don't see Jimbo departing FSU. If LSU initiates talks with Jimbo, FSU will pull out their wallet to keep him. As far as reaching the NCG, the path to that goal is easier at FSU?

Jimbo has had friction with FSU for quite sometime. He also has a lot of supporters here that were u happy when he was passed over for Miles. He would come if offered.

To your Point #5: Money
It seems as if Jimbo is already doing pretty well financially at FSU. The quote below is from a Jan., 2015 article in the Tallahassee Democrat.

"Florida State football coach Jimbo Fisher will earn $5 million for the 2015 season and could earn at least $44 million for the life of his new contract extension, which was made public on Wednesday.
The contract, which runs through 2022, was released after a public records request by the Tallahassee Democrat.
Fisher will be among seven college football coaches who make at least $5 million per season, including his good friend and mentor Nick Saban at Alabama, new Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh, Michigan State's Mark Dantonio, Oklahoma's Bob Stoops, Texas A&M's Kevin Sumlin and Charlie Strong at Texas.
Of the elusive group, only Fisher, Saban and Stoops have won national titles.
