Let's say all this talk is true, Miles gets sacked and Jimbo is the No. 1 target.

Why would he leave a successful program he's comfortable in for another job? I don't LSU think is a significantly better job than FSU, and if we offered more money, wouldn't they just counter?

Anyway, I'd love Jimbo to come but I just don't know why he would

Tom Hermann should be priority #1 if all this coaching change stuff actually goes down.

Part of me believes and wants there to be a change and the common sense part of me says that's just too much money to overcome.

I will be very surprised if he does. He's pigeon-holing himself to LSU, which could be either good or bad. Good-he turns LSU into a national champion and becomes enshrined in the history books. Bad-ends up being good but not great like CLM and will never get another shot in the greatest conference due to age alone.

I stay at FSU and keep winning championships while bathing in just as much money as Les.

No one to compete with in the state for recruiting, Better chance to get in the Playoff from SEC vs Acc

He won't. LSU chose Les over him after Saban left. Jimbo moved on and is doing just fine.....

Don't know why people think Jimbo is a real option when he isn't.....

Jimbo won't because of personal reasons and the fact that the ACC is an easier shot to playoffs. All he really needs to compete is a decent qb and maintain their stellar recruiting.

I don't see any reason for Jimbo to leave FSU for LSU at this point in his career.

Rumors are that he has issues with the front office over there, think its a control issue.

PLUS big plus here. If he can recruit on par with LSU, which he has the last couple years, at an ACC school. Imagine what he could do recruiting-wise at an SEC school. I would be willing to bet he could stay consistently top 3-4 classes every year recruiting at an SEC school. Kids still look at what conference they play in and they know the SEC puts more kids into the League than anyone else.

The better question is, why does anyone think he'd come to LSU? Ain't happening.

The school that took him in, groomed him and promoted him probably has his loyalty. The school kept its word and Jimbo will likely respond in kind.
FSU pulls great recruits and gets respect. His family is there, at least that's what I hear.
All the Sabansuckers desperate for a return to those days may have to find another target. If he comes here I will be surprised.

I agree. It's not.

Maybe Fisher is having trouble with the administration? Who knows? But FSU is a great job, and I don't know why he'd leave.

Having to link this yet again...

He was here in July to meet with high school coaches about offensive philosophy.

LINK
quote:

What coaches also got was Florida State football coach Jimbo Fisher plugged in and doing what he does best — talking fast to make sure he could talk about as much offense as possible.

“I hope I didn’t go too fast,” Fisher said afterward. “Call me any time. I’ll be happy to get you whatever you need.”

quote:

“I have an unbelievable tremendous amount of respect for the state of Louisiana, the coaches association and the players,” Fisher said. “There’s just so many fond memories. LSU is a very special place, a very special place for me and my family. It was tremendous to be able to come back.”

Fisher told the media he still follows LSU and pulls for LSU. He said he thinks Les Miles is a tremendous coach.

Yes. On the one hand he could just be here for FSU recruiting purposes.

But on the other hand that's a lot to say about LSU if you're on the FSU recruiting trail...

There's no way he doesn't at least consider it if we call.

I don't see Jimbo departing FSU. If LSU initiates talks with Jimbo, FSU will pull out their wallet to keep him. As far as reaching the NCG, the path to that goal is easier at FSU?

He seems to be doing just fine at FSU in that dept

WHAT?! Do you realize how non-competitive the ACC is compared to the SEC, let alone the SEC West? Last season's FSU team was good, but not great (they had a ton of close scares). Still, he was able to navigate through the conference to the playoffs.

There is no objectively logical reason for him to leave FSU to come to LSU unless he (a) loves LSU that much and/or (b) is unhappy at FSU
