Well, you could blame the coach if they sign a bunt of top 5 round guys like turtle and smoke did for a few years, but Mainieri has shown a good track record of getting guys in the "in between rounds"

FWIW ZVR had turned down significant money before the last push from the Pirates.
And no, I don't have a link.

I don't think anyone would have expected we'd lose both ZVR and Colvin. And you can't fault the coaches. You have to go after the top players in Louisiana UNLESS all indications are they are only looking for the money and a shot at pro ball. In the case of Colvin and ZVR, it seems well documented that they each were Tiger fans and dreamed of playing at LSU. Unfortunately, the teams that drafted them really wanted them bad as well and in the end threw serious, first round money at them in spite of their being drafted in the 6th and 7th rounds. Good luck to them both.

going into the draft we all knew heathcott, von rosenburg and colvin were long shots.the 2 la boys loved the tigers but the teams had great offers and it was too good to pass up.heathcott was a 1st rounder so you knew he was gone. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Icongeauxtigers.png)

Certainly can't blame the coaches. In fact, I'm encouraged that he was proactive in anticipating and plugging a few of the holes in this class before the MLB deadline.
As for Colvin, I wish him the best. Would have loved to see him on the mound in P&G.

+1
To tell you the truth, I'm honestly tired of hearing about two guys that never even put on an LSU jersey. Best of luck to them. I'm sure they'll enjoy pro ball and the $$$. And even without them, I'm sure we as LSU fans will enjoy the next decade of college baseball.
