Ross: solid pitcher, has good stuff

You serious? 6-8 with a 5.18 era isn't exactly solid and he rarely went more than 5-6 innings in his starts. He was serviceable as a 3 starter, but needs much improvement to become our 2 starter.

Bradshaw: ditto with Ross

Again, you serious? He pitched well at times and poorly other times. He is not yet proven starter.

and then you have a promising young pitcher in Chris Matulis who could make some noise

He pitched so poorly he was dropped from the postseason roster. You might as well mention the entire pitching staff.

Ott is going to get a shot at starting.

I definitely wouldn't mind it if he turns out like Coleman obviously

He was dropped from the postseason roster because of his piss poor attitude in the SEC tourney.

The point is that a degree doesn't guarantee success. I know plumbers and contractors doing much better than highly educated people.

That's a valid point but its better to play the odds. Go to college it's better safe than sorry in the long run.

i haven't read the whole thread so this may have already been addressed, but don't a lot of kids get college paid for if they don't pan out?

if he does pan out in the pros, he can still go to college. usually, the club will pay for it, and if not, i'm sure he can pay for an lsu education with a million dollar signing bonus

I agree. Ott should be our #2 starter. I think Chad Jones and Paul Bertuccini could both make excellent closers. The Sunday starter position is wide open, and it will be interesting to see what develops.

I agree on Jones and definitely disagree on Bert.

I'm a lot less confident on Bertuccini than in Chad Jones. He hasn't been consistent enough in the past. But I think the potential to be a solid closer for us is there, because his stuff is basically unhittable when he's on.

yes. just about every player has this in their contract in case if they get injured, or just don't ever make it to the majors. if colvin signs with the phillies and doesnt make it, then i would be willing to bet the phillies will pay every penny for him to go to college.

PM could always revive the Alsup project. It's our ace in the hole.
