yeah I'm deff considering him to sign but if he makes it to campus he would be the star of the class and would be competing for a starting spot instantly.

I can't believe that BOTH of those kids make this big of a mistake... I can't fathom their parents allowing them to. I could understand an out of stater, but for Christ sake there are too many players that have been average players at LSU went professional in their respective sports. Their athletic career didn't pan out and they come back to their respective cities and open a business that becomes ridiculously and amazingly successful. I wish both kids good luck as they will both need it if they jump to the minors and get injured or hell just can't climb the ranks to the elite of the already elite.

I can't even imagine how much Colvin could increase his stock if he came to LSU for 3 years especially as a two way player and lit it up in college. I just don't want to see this kid get low balled like 500,000, sign, get injured and never make it out of the minors with no degree.

It's not like they will be prohibited from enrolling at LSU if they wash out in the minors.

It's great to hear that we still may have a chance. If we could somehow get Colvin that would make it easier to try and keep Ott in the bull pen and groom Colvin to be our Ace in two years.

Not to mention the kid can hit. Come on over Brody!!

looks like Phillies officals are becoming pessimistic about signing Colvin. Still think he signs but I'm willing to take the percentage down to 60/40.

We're all hearing things man. All different kinds of things. People are reporting that he was in Philly, others that he was back in Laffy. This will be put to rest in 48 hours. Just telling people what I heard.

And then he'll take his 100K education grant from his contract and use it to pay for an education at a better school. If he didn't negotiate this into his contract, then he is a moron and has no business at an institution of higher learning.

taking $500,000 isn't setting you up for life financially. After taxes and paying an agent, he'd probably take home $325,000. That's good money, but doesn't set you up for life. Mainieri's had Brad Lidge, Samardja, Heilman, Stanley etc. who weren't top pick guys out of high school. They signed for a hell of a lot more after being in school. The injured dilemma carries no weight. How many guys can you name that have gotten hurt and never played again? That's what Lloyd's of London is for also. If Colvin is as good as advertised, there's no reason he can't make $1,500,000 plus in 3 years.
