Stuff like this wouldn't happen if they just let the kids go pro right out of high school. That rule of going for one year makes no damn sense.

his kid is why i have a dislike of basketball in general, so many big heads who think it's about themself, especially when it affects the team as whole which plagued a bunch of the players of the basketball team and CJJ didn't hold himself above these players and control them

Let's be honest. You only watched because of Simmons and you're mad because he didn't live up to your unrealistic expectations.

Never have so many idiots who make less than $30,000 moaned so much about a 20 year old kid ONLY getting $12 million. Wow, what's next. Oh he has to give 40% to the government. Bu.u.u.t he's a star!

Too bad he didn't play like the player of the year and a once in a generation talent as he was advertised.

And yes I said advertised because that's what it is all about; selling tickets, gear and tennis shoes.

Sure LSU fans hoped he would help us win big, but quickly most of us knew that the Simmons hype was more about marketing Simmons than about winning.

So how is that a waste of his time?

Again, I'm not disagreeing. Just interpreting what I believe the perception is around Simmons' choice in college.

I realize this is picky, but players CAN go pro out of high school - just not to the NBA (it's the NBA's rule). But they don't have to go to college - they can play pro ball overseas.

Not surprising for a player that can't score outside the paint.

Ben Simmons has no heart. I'm not sure why he gets defended here. It is obvious.

He is a good, not great player. No
Fire or passion. It is what it is. We are only talking about it because of the hype.

He's worth more but this can't be good for LSU going forward. Big name stars that might have came here will think again if they haven't already watching this last season.

Sorry, but if he loses money, it has to do with his own play. Not lsu. Also, it was never confirmed he was going to get 50 mil. Terribly stupid article

I agree that nobody blew it for Ben Simmons. He did it to himself. He never was the player everyone said, and even some still say, he is. This video really nails the things I have been saying all along.

LINK

Weakness in his game:

1. Perimeter shooting
2. Toughness/Length on offense and defense
3. Mentality - Running away from shots and taking off plays on defense.
4. NBA Fit - 6'10" PG but can he play that position in the pros? Needs great shooters around him.

Oh yeah this was based on his game before he ever played one minute for LSU and he brought exactly the same problems with him when he came here. Could Johnny Jones have done a much better job coaching him and everyone else. Without a doubt. But was Simmons the type of player that any team could ride into the tournament on his back. IMHO not at all. At a Duke, Kentucky or Kansas where they could surround him with four other high school all americans the weakness in his game could have been protected but his stats that everyone talks so much about would have been way down.

It's not LSu's fault nor simmons fault that Simmons was over hyped. The media are the ones who over hyped him.

He'll still be a high pick in the NBA draft and have an NBA career. He just isn't the SUPERSTAR he was hyped to be.

LSU hyped Simmons too to sell tickets.

In hindsight was that good? Maybe for the bottom line it was, but looking back could it have destroyed team chemistry and given Simmons the big head?

Perhaps and we will never know, but if Simmons had gone to Duke, Ky. or Kansas that would not have happened and it may have been a key reason his "team" chose LSU. We don't know that either, but it's obvious Simmons was being marketed for a big pay day.

LSU didn't sell him as being a superstar. That was done by the media long before he came to LSU. HIs talent was just way over estimated by a lot of media and scout types and sold to the general public while he was still in high school. NOw it seems they want to blame LSU and JOnes for Simmons shortcomings. They seem not willing to admit that they were the ones who missed on him.

When he is riding the bench in the NBA 5 years from now are they still going to blame LSU and say if only he had gone to Duke things would be different?

Preseason LSU touted him as a superstar. That's a fact. How can anyone say otherwise?

But I agree the national media bought into all the hype too. It wasn't just LSU.

And who really knows what the NBA scouts thought? Like the NFL scouts they aren't going to tell you what they really think, but you will find out when they draft.

everyone said the same thing prior to the season talking about sweet 16 or bust.

But all of a sudden, because they had the season they had now it's not true.
