Matt Riser of SLU to interview tomorrow as well.
quote:

Former Tulane shortstop Andy Cannizaro — LSU’s recruiting coordinator and hitting coach — will interview for the head coaching job at his alma mater Wednesday, multiple sources told The Advocate.

Cannizaro, who has been in Atlanta all week recruiting for LSU, declined comment when reached Tuesday.

LSU head coach Paul Mainieri told The Advocate on Tuesday that he had a “great conversation” with Tulane athletic director Troy Dannen last week, when he gave Cannizaro “as strong a recommendation as I could possibly give a person.”

Sources also confirmed to The Advocate that Southeastern Louisiana coach Matt Riser, another former Tulane player, would interview Wednesday. Riser did not immediately return a request for comment.

Pretty classy comments by PM.

And to think, the Rant constantly tells me he is an a-hole.

100% chance he is gone. He was considered before Pierce got the job. Mainieri, Bertman,
Jones & Schlossenagle would probably give him recco's. He gone.

This is my first post after years of reading, I hope I abide by the rules, if not please tell me and I will fix!

Just curious what puts him ahead of Matt Riser who has the tools of running a program, budgeting, staffing, recruiting, academics, etc already in his arsenal. I know Andy is a rising star but you cant ignore what Riser has done in Hammond with considerable less resources than Andy has here at LSU. I hope he stays, but I dont see what makes him 100% over Riser at this stage. and Remember... the Tulane AD is NOT a Tulane guy, from the mid east with NO previous Tulane ties. He's just as likely to hire somone from god knows where as he is to hire Canizaro or Riser.

Welcome, and nice username. I would say Andy is a better choice because his resume is a bit "flashier" than Rizers. Andy was a professional evaluator after a superb career and then came to LSU and produced two years of great hitting. Sure it might have been something to do with the talent level here versus somewhere else, but I think most everyone thinks it's Andy's job to lose.

Tulane only has one shot at Cannizaro. He's not looking for a stepping stone job. He will be there for the rest of his career. Perfect match-- give him 3-4 years--he will be competing with LSU--TCU--VANDY in Omaha every year.

I'd say what puts AC ahead of Riser is recruiting nationally at a higher level. That's what you have to do at Tulane. You can't just fill up a roster with Louisiana kids.

Ten of the 33 players on this year's SLU roster were from out of state.

That's not that many. Tulane had like 8 kids from Louisiana on the roster this year. Lsu had16 from out of state.

Also back to the guy who was making his 1st post. Tulane's new AD doesn't have to be a Tulane guy to understand the benefits of hiring a guy who graduated from Tulane

Riser should have the nod over Cannizaro.

Who would you all like to see come in as LSU's hitting coach should Andy leave?
