Tulane wants to recruit nationally, not regionally.

Before Andy even joined LSU, he had connections nationally from being a scout. Couple that with 2 years as recruiting coordinator at a top 5 national program, and he is perfectly capable of running a program. Do people not understand how much work that entails? How much knowledge is gained?

Even with that being said, Andy's name in LA rings louder than Matt Riser. Andy has the chance to be a top of the line coach, and Tulane knows if they dont act now, they may never get someone of his caliber.

Please take Riser... Also shouldn't CPM be working offering AC a raise instead of recommending him to an in-state rival?

and people keep saying that the new AD is all about national searches. Save that shite. If he had options in LA like he does for baseball, he would have went that route.

No. You always want people working under you to ascend. Head coach at Tulane is a better job than LSU hitting coach. If your talent keeps earning better opportunities, you'll keep attracting great talent.

i see your point, but i doubt it is in our budget to pay him as much as he will make as the HC at Tulane.

pay raise + promotion(to his alma mater, at that) is hard to beat

one of the reasons Tulane would hire Andy is they would never have to worry about someone hiring him away from Tulane.

LSU head coach Paul Mainieri told The Advocate on Tuesday that he had a “great conversation” with Tulane athletic director Troy Dannen last week, when he gave Cannizaro “as strong a recommendation as I could possibly give a person.”

Tigahs2009,

Would like to see Todd Walker come in. He was a much better player than Cannizaro (who was terrific) and perhaps the best college player to ever wear the purple and Gold .. He could get the coaching experience under Coach Manieri and then move up if he stays with the Tigers. I don't want to see Coach Cannizaro leave but, this would be a GRAND SLAM HOME RUN HIRE, if he would take the job. He has major league connections and has a great resume and personality. This would be my first and only choice if he would accept the position. He has great intangibles as did Coach Cannizaro when he was hired.and would not leave his alma mater.

Riser should have the nod over Cannizaro.

If Southeastern has a board I am sure they are saying Andy should be the guy.

Who would you all like to see come in as LSU's hitting coach should Andy leave?

The hitting coach from CCU would be an interesting candidate he had their guys hitting like the "Tigers of the past", they treated every plate appearance like it was their last.

That's debatable. Plus he would be coming back to coach a lineup that only lost one major guy.

Not even remotely debatable, especially not for a guy who went to Tulane.

Even if he didn't go to Tulane, the last Tulane coach just got one of the best jobs in the country. You're probably not going from hitting coach at LSU to head Coach at Texas.

comeon man we all get performance anxiety sometimes...

I know more about pitching than I do hitting, but I like the suggestion of coastal carolina's hitting coach. Those guys could swing it.
