To say that Tulane has passed LSU competitively, and as well, that they will be battling LSU in Omaha in a matter of yrs just goes to show how far from reality some posters are here. As has been proved over & over again, it takes a lot of hard work over the years, and then even luck, to get to Omaha just one time. Ask Coastal's HC. Andy is a great coach in the making quite possibly, but he has yet to win his first game. As for any lack of competitiveness, LSU came in second by only 2 games in the toughest, most competitive league in the country. This year. With CPM's most inexperienced team. And won the regular season championship just last yr.And has been host of a Super Regional for the past 5 yrs, the most in the nation. Tulane did what, win 2 mid wk games, this yr?

You actually think the SEC was the most competitive conference this year?

Overall, the SEC is the most competitive conference over the last 8-10 years. One season doesn't negate the truth of that fact.

The hitting coach from CCU would be an interesting candidate he had their guys hitting like the "Tigers of the past", they treated every plate appearance like it was their last.

Tulane would be wise to make a national search...

threeput, you are obviously going by the results of the regionals, in which any team can get hot & have 1-2 pitchers carry it. The SEC, over the course of the entire season, going into the seedings for the regionals, had anywhere from 4-5-6 teams ranked in the Top Ten all season long, with at least 4 teams receiving Top seeds going into the tournament and 7 winning hosts spots. So, yea, the SEC was the most competitive conference, again, this year.

What the hell is a Tulane guy? Wasn't Coach Bertman and Miami guy? Jesus, wake up. Andy is a great coach, but these are not the days when he was playing. The transfer rule killed Tulane baseball. When has Tulane been relevant since the transfer rule was abolished? NEVER. As a N.O. native and former LSU player, you can't recruit at Tulane. It costs over $50,000.00 to go there. So, you give out 11.7 schollys to good players. Where do they get money for the other guys. This crap about the midweek wins means "precisely dick." Andy is smarter than you give him credit for. I would be shocked if he leaves.

Ask Vanderbilt how to do it.

That said, funding scholarships for baseball players isn't within the coach's control. The admin can turn it off just as quickly as they turn it on.

There are plenty of good, expensive private schools doing well in baseball. Ask Vandy and Rice, TCU etc. Also Tulane just had a Pair of 4th round picks and finished in the top 25. I think the recruiting is going ok lately.

This year you fricking dunce. Top 25 in the final polls.

Did Miam offer him the job as a head coach before he went to LSU and created a dynasty? I don't think so, so we're really comparing apples to oranges.

In this case it's a guy who grew up a Tulane fan as his dad was an assistant coach. It's a guy who is an all-time great as a player at Tulane.

Well bud if he's offered there's a 99.99% chance he takes it.

I think we should all just sit around and discuss how awesome Matt Riser is and how well he's done as a head coach.

Did anyone else notice that Terry Rooney resigned from Central Florida the other day to take the pitching coach job at Alabama?

It's also weird that at a school surrounded by D1 baseball prospects he couldn't even manage a .600 win percentage.

Louisiana connections used to abound in the HC ranks in Florida. Turtle, Smoke, Rooney, Mark Kingston. Turtle and Rooney are both out now.

That UCF job should be a high demand one.
