Yep, that's what I get when I read between the lines too. The ethics line refers to Jimbo's rapey crab problems. The "accomplished leader" line doesn't necessarily rule out O because he could have "proved" himself this year, and at USCw. I am for Jimbo and this disappoints me. My theory is not that our AD blew the negotations, but that it was between O and Jimbo (if Herman is going to UTa). Jimbo wanting $7M and for LSU to buy him a house tipped the scales towards O, as well as O doing really well in all his games (other than getting shut out by bama). I see this as advantage O right now. O could still blow it if he loses to UF or aTm, or even if he has an ugly win (Milesquetoast-like). I am ok with O as long as he brings in a good OC, and as long as we keep Aranda... but Jimbo is still my #1 as he has the better overall fb resume by far, and fills in our needs (OC, QB dev., recruiting) to a T.

I hope we are both wrong.

Now the guys who hold down the third shift at the Dairy Queen think Alleva just, out of the goodness of his heart, decides to "update" the fans, not perceiving that this letter is just uninformative bullshite.

Others of us who have held corporate management jobs know that NO letter like this gets sent without some hidden purpose or meaning--and what it is implying has me worried. I am trying to remember how decisive Alleva was in canning Miles and trying to believe that with all the talk of Miles's buyout meaning we're not going cheap, then hell, an extra million for Fisher should not make Alleva balk.

Is Alleva caving in to the local media and certain boosters/alums like Ruffin Rodrigue?

SURELY he's not dumb enough to have an agreement in principle with Fisher, then telling Fisher, "Uh, Jimbo, we're gonna wait for a couple more games to make a decision."

If that is the case, then Jimbo would have every right to tell Alleva to go frick himself.

I just believe the line with the most portent in that letter is about "holding players accountable to the highest standards." That sounds like the smoking gun that negotiations with Fisher broke down.

And if Alleva thinks that caving into the local Orgeron cabal means that when this program tanks in 2-3 years, that this bunch will say to him: "That's okay, Joe, it's not your fault, we pushed for him" ... bullshite.

They will gladly ride Alleva out on a rail with Orgeron even though they pushed for Orgeron.

I notice his criteria doesn't mention that the person has to be a current or former head coach

This should disqualify Alleva from his own job.

Right you are, and then there is that whole probation "thingy" while he was recruiting coordinator/DL pos coach at USC, the stint at the U in its thug hayday (BTW he was fired by the U for being a belligerent drunk), not to mention choosing to rejoin his partner in crime, Lane Kiffin at UT, despite an equal opportunity that was available and offered to him at his "dream" school, LSU. Oh yeah, that's right! Maybe Joe Aleva doesn't really have Orgeron in mind, after all?

LSU always looks good on paper, then Politics screws it up.

Perhaps he's laying the ground work to say "O met every guideline" at the presser.

It also sounds like he's talking about Herman. O and Fisher have both had disciplinary problems in the past.

Are you serious? Go 6-1, go to the Sugar Bowl all with taking over after 4 games, with no off season time of your own, having to elevate a tight ends coach to OC, having to shuffle your assistants around to fill gaps, start a new QB, have your stud hurt half the year...that is a monumentally dumb comment.
Someone who wants Ed Orgeron hired as Headcoach calling something "monumentally dumb" is pretty fricking hilarious to me.

Hand it? The man is auditioning. So I was speaking hypothetically. I'm asking a leget question. What he has to do to pass his audition

Sounds like Jimbo is out.
Yes, I'm not comfortable with the way Fisher handled all the Jamesis "Rape" and subsequent "Acting a Fool" stuff. He defended him all the way. Made it sound like he didn't do anything wrong. Was not a fan of all that.

Also, not a fan of his recruiting.

Watch, if he gets the job, he'll hire Dameyune "My Alma Mater doesn't want Me" Craig to be OC/QB Coach, then we'll all watch as Brennan will de-commit soon afterwards.
