Okay guys, I hate to be pessimistic, but here's what I think this letter implies.

Alleva blew the negotiations with Fisher by balking on some trivial incidentals like the housing allowance.

O is his only choice.

So, to soften the blow, he writes:

"hold them accountable to certain standards of behavior both on and off the field. He must be committed to continuing a tradition defined by character and integrity."

So his excuse and spin will be: Jimbo has problems running a tight ship.

I hope I'm wrong, but that's what I see. On the surface, this letter is general bullshite that you wonder why even send it out.

But the implied message is: We're getting O.

Jimbo was Fisher's man from the beginning. Alleva did not just wake up and decide that Fisher wasn't a good character builder.

That's his convenient excuse for blowing the negotiations.

TIFWIW.

Are you serious? Go 6-1, go to the Sugar Bowl all with taking over after 4 games, with no off season time of your own, having to elevate a tight ends coach to OC, having to shuffle your assistants around to fill gaps, start a new QB, have your stud hurt half the year...that is a monumentally dumb comment.

We've dominated in every game we should have dominated in because of a massive advantage in talent than our opponent.

The only team we've faced that matches our talent didn't allow our offense to score a point.

We could have made just about anyone the interim HC and had positive results.

Etling was already starting before O came in. Also we've won our games running the ball and having great defense. Literally exactly what Les would have done. We've played against shitty defenses as well

Sounds like a very good description of coach O.

I would agree...describes him to a "T". Does not talk about past performance or championships, but does reinforce recruiting, motivation, and ethics....hmmm.

A flurry of words that says absolutely nothing. I suppose this was not meant to actually inform us of anything, but to simply state the obvious. If they weren't doing the things in this letter I would be worried.

Why can't people see this ?? O isn't the answer for Lsu to get over the bama hump and get us back to a national title. He's just not built for it. There's a reason why he's never been a coordinator. There's a reason why Syracuse didn't even interview him.. He's earned a shot with the job he's done but not at Lsu.

Alleva says nothing, keeps his cards close-to-the-vest. LSU "fans" btich about him not being transparent or about him being incompetent.
Alleva pens a letter clearly outlining what he wants and expects in a coach, communicating concrete ideas...LSU "fans" bitch.

Should he come out now and say who his choice is, salary demands go up, destabilization occurs here and wherever, LSU violates tampering rules....LSU "fans" bitch.

That's all this fanbase does is bitch.

Nothing with respect to coaching intelligence and ability, or proven record of winning? Hmmm

Yep, that's what I get when I read between the lines too. The ethics line refers to Jimbo's rapey crab problems.

The "accomplished leader" line doesn't necessarily rule out O because he could have "proved" himself this year, and at USCw.

I am for Jimbo and this disappoints me. My theory is not that our AD blew the negotations, but that it was between O and Jimbo (if Herman is going to UTa). Jimbo wanting $7M and for LSU to buy him a house tipped the scales towards O, as well as O doing really well in all his games (other than getting shut out by bama).

I see this as advantage O right now. O could still blow it if he loses to UF or aTm, or even if he has an ugly win (Milesquetoast-like). I am ok with O as long as he brings in a good OC, and as long as we keep Aranda... but Jimbo is still my #1 as he has the better overall fb resume by far, and fills in our needs (OC, QB dev., recruiting) to a T.

what all has CEO accomplished in his entire head coaching career? now compare that to Jimbo and tell me without bias who should have the job based on that alone.
