Just to throw some things out there based on what I've heard.

First, there was a report, I think coming from Jimmy Ott initially, that Wade had told LSU he had two Top 100 recruits he thought he could bring in at LSU. I'm going to guess one of them is a kid named Sandro Mamukelashvili, who's a 6-11, 230-pounder from Georgia (the other Georgia, not the one with Atlanta in it) currently at Montverde Academy in Florida. We signed Ben Simmons and Jalyn Patterson out of Montverde, and Wade signed Sean Mobley out of there in November - so you have Will Wade connections and also LSU connections at that school. Seeing as though we could more or less offer this kid the starting spot at the "4" from Day One and he apparently doesn't even have a short list yet, that's a possibility.

Also - the #1 seed at the JUCO national championship tournament is San Jacinto Central, and their point guard is a kid named Corey Davis. He goes about 6-2, and he's put up a really nice season - 17.2 points a game, 3.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.4 steals 2.5 A/TO ratio, .500 from the floor, .460 from the three point line, .782 at the foul line - on a 32-1 team.

Corey Davis is from Lafayette. He went to Lafayette High. He was a ULL signee out of high school but didn't make grades. I think we'd all agree LSU could use a decent point guard who can shoot. Well, here's one.

Also in the JUCO tournament is Jones County CC out of Mississippi. They have a 6-8, 260-pound post named Bruce Stevens, who also has some good numbers (16.4 ppg, 11.6 rpg, 2.0 bpg, .528 FG, .381 3PT, .816 FT) and has Ole Miss and Mississippi State looking at him.

If the reports are true and Matt Abdelmassih is going to be on this staff, that opens up the possibility of pursuing some kids out of New York that Abdelmassih has been working on for St. John's. One of whom is Mohammed Bamba (6-10), though I would imagine is a pipe dream. Another is Jordan Tucker (6-7), who's originally from White Plains, NY but is currently at Wheeler HS outside of Atlanta - Tucker has had St. John's on his list for a long time and Abdelmassih was his recruiter.

And then there is Zack Brown, who Abdelmassih got out of Miami and signed in November. He's a Top 100 recruit and he ought to be - he's 7-1 and 265 pounds. He also knocked over a Walgreen's and got arrested, and St. John's released him. From what I gather Brown also has classroom work he needs to do, so that's a major risk - but maybe it's worth it and maybe Wade thinks he can mentor the kid.

Back to the JUCO ranks, there's a kid at Southwest Mississippi JC just across the state line named Rodrick Sikes who's a 6-2 guard with a big-time offensive game and a bunch of mid-major offers. He put up some monster numbers on a pretty good team (they went 18-9) - 22.0 ppg, 5.5 rpg, .492 FG, .388 3PT, .746 FT. Sikes is originally from Ocean Springs, on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. LSU's practically home for him. He was 9th in the country in scoring; you'd think he could be worth a look.

Just a few names they might look at to beef up the hoops roster. What I imagine is Wade would want to prioritize spring signees over returning players; kids like Elbert Robinson, Brandon Jenkins, Kieran Hayward and even Jalyn Patterson and Aaron Epps probably ought to be brought back only if you can't find enough SEC players to displace them. This roster needs a pretty sizable turnover.

How many fricking people running around his town are 7' 250? No matter how good this guy is, he isn't worth the risk. Robbing a store is already extremely poor decision making. It's compounded when you are the only guy in town that fits a particular description.

Basically, this kid is too dumb to be considered.

He ain't a genius, for sure.

But he's a kid our potential lead assistant has already signed who's available. And he comes from a background that will make you hear violins in the background.

Not a dry eye in the house for this one.

I'm agnostic on whether this would be worth the chance. What I would say is now would be the time to give it a shot if ever you'd think about it, because you've got nothing to lose. But he's a thug, and he's been raised by wolves. He's a complete human reclamation project. You'd practically have to get Shaq to move back to Baton Rouge and have this kid live with him for a year while he plays ball.

I would imagine that any assistant that is hired will have a recruit or two in his backpocket.

I also don't think the roster is in as bad a shape as some people do, of course depending on attrition.

Post help is desperately needed, but if Blakeney returns there is talent and depth at guard.

Hasn't everyone knocked over a Walgreen's, 7/11 or Circle K at some point in their lives.

To give Johnny his due, Brandon Rachal really is pretty good. He's going to be an asset for us.

But the Alexander kid is talking about wanting out, and he isn't even back from the knee. I'd call it 50-50 if you ever get anything out of him.

Check out VCU's roster, they were not very big but in the conference they play in you don't necessarily need size.

You have to have bigs in the SEC to survive.

We have nothing in the post. Reath is average and everyone else is a liability. Wade is going to have to get another JUCO transfer or a grad transfer to start at the 4 if he wants to win 15+ games this season. It would be awesome if we somehow stole Kiir from VCU

I think you need three post players in the spring signing period, if at all possible.

The #3 seed at the JUCO Tournament is Georgia Highlands College. They have a 6-8, 210 pound kid named Kyvon Davenport who has offers from East Tennessee State, Colorado State, Memphis, Murray State and Florida Gulf Coast. His numbers: 16.7 ppg, 10.6 rpg, 3.0 bpg, 1.6 spg, .528 FG, .300 3PT, .615 FT.

He's skinny, but with rebound and block numbers like that he could be a Windex man for you.

There are people still available. Especially in the JUCO ranks. JUCO's don't generally sign early, because so many of them are academic risks. If you don't want to take a chance on a kid like Zack Brown they might be the solution.

Also, John Salley's kid plays at Benedictine Prep in Richmond. He's 6-10. ESPN ranks him as the #10 player in Virginia. He's uncommitted.

When he said he knocked over a Walgreens, I just assumed he fell against it and it toppled over.

Rhoades is a hell but of a recruiter. Don't think we get any of these kids if Rhoades wants to keep them at VCU.
