That's what all the top schools do. We've been 100 years and made 3 final fours. We have recent championships in both other major sports. No more settling for mediocrity. The bar is being raised. With a championship we will be able to recruit more top prospects. Next year is our chance!

As for being nervous about Newman. Would you take Chris Jackson if he was in this class? Newman is very similar. He is better than Monte Ellis of the Mavs , who is also from here. Seen both and Malik is better. It's all about Championships. Too much talent is a great problem to have.

He shoots 60% of his outside shots like that and i've seen him live plenty. It is an extreme version of a fade away. I personally like Newman better but I haven't seen Blakney live yet.

Those questioning whether Mickey or Martin stays; Neither are NBA ready. Martin's assessment by one draft site as being #32 on their list means literally nothing. One bad post season game could drop that to low second round with no guarantees or undrafted. Anyone giving advice to leave early should be questioned. Why leave a chance to grow and develop skills against top non conference opponents next year? That's the best way for either of them to become more consistent and show they have effectively continued to refine their skills and strengthen themselves to be effective against bigger opponents in the paint.

Remove their stats against the cupcakes on this year's schedule and then one can make a realistic assessment of NBA readiness.

There 6'6 guards and their game is made for the NBA.

No it's not.

They are 6'6, but are below average athletes compared to NBA guards. And they struggle shooting the ball. They are good college players because they are so much bigger than the guys they are going against and can overpower them with size and get to the rim. But that won't work in the NBA.

Go look at their draft stock now... Draftexpress has Andrew at 51overall and Aaron at like 86. And other scouts and analysts have said that they would go late 2nd or undrafted. Their stock has been dropping the entire season

well if you are arguing that he has a poor shot, ill have to disagree with you. he has a nice shot where he extends his elbow at the highest point.

but regardless of his shot, i havent seen either of them live, but have seen all the highlights and read all the detailed reports of their game.

Newman is a better team player who can score and denfend and plays tough.
blakeney might be a better scorer, but the better overall player is newman.
and newman is probably the best guard coming into college next year.

I'm agreeing with you. I said all along he is Chris Jackson part 2. The only reason Blakney scores 50 and 60 points in a game and Malik doesn't is because malik has 3 D1 prospects around him and he doesn't have to. Callaway probably wins state without Newman. With Newman everybody is playing for second. There is no one in Mississippi that will touch Callaway.

Watch the Dominican Callaway game. Watch how He shoots. He jumps back 2 feet and then shoots a fade away.

Who are the other prospects on Calloway? I ask because 247 doesn't have a profile for anymore calloway kids in 2015 or 2016.

alright well we are on the same page.
itd be nice to get newman and then we'd be able to tell who we think is better in college next year out of him and blakeney cause they are both very good.

They have a 6'10" PF with arms like Manute Bol. Good range on his jumper. Shot blocking machine. They have a versitile 6'7" forward that is a great rebounder. Double digit scorer. Also have another guard, i think his name is Summerville, that is as good of a three point shooter as Hornsby.

The 6'8" guy is Wesley Harris Sr.
Marcus Summerville is a 6'2" jr
Damien Harris is a 6'10" soph

I'll post some pics from the state finals.

Why on Earth would you NOT want a player of Newman's calibre?

I posted that before you registered Noob. Back then nobody, including myself, thought he was considering LSU. Go back to the SEC recruiting board to troll.

Seriously considering LSU. LSU is apart of his list and still likely behind UK and KU. That's how it was before all of the good things, and vague tweets shouldn't be used as proof for someone who keeps it close to the vest.

Well he eliminated Kentucky. Is that vague? Our chances are about 1 in 5 with 3 teams left. Nobody said it's a lock or "seriously considering". Hell, seven weeks we all thought he was Kentucky. Just enjoy making up ground on the leaders.

Is that more of your insider sources, because it hasn't been reported anywhere. He's hesitant because he doesn't know who is coming back. That doesn't mean he's eliminated UK. All that means is he'll wait and see how their number situation unfolds.

I had just put this in the basketball recruiting thread and thought it could be helpful here:

quote:

From Jerry Meyer:

Reason UK is in bad shape is Newman is set on playing PG and supposedly UK may want him off guard due to bringing in Briscoe and having Ullis back (and possibly a PG twin)

Says Newman is also really tight with both Blakeney and Simmons.

I think LSU must be selling him on the idea that Q is a combo guard type while Malik could come in as the starting PG.

Jerry did say he wasn't ready to change his CB prediction from Kansas to LSU, but we are much more in the mix than he ever thought we were.

According to Meyer just now on 247, Malik is hell bent on playing PG and Kentucky already has Briscoe and Ullis plus the Harrison twins are looking likely to come back. So Malik knows it's unlikely he'll be able to play PG at UK. Kansas has Frank Mason Jr too. We're looking good O. Just be positive, shite is going well man.

Jerry Meyer and Shea reported. Why don't you read the thread instead of just posting. You give me a case of hemorrhoids that preparation Won't cure
