Maybe you haven't kept up with their draft status but it's plummeted since the end of last season. They have not nearly played like NBA players which is why it is so up in the air if they would return or not. Only even 1 of them is projected to even be selected in the draft and that's in the middle part of the 2nd round. Just because they are 6'5 means nothing.

They are D-league players likely.

Here's a couple current mock drafts:
Andrew Harrison #50 overall, no Aaron Harrison
Andrew Harrison #51 overall, no Aaron Harrison

Go look at mock drafts. None of them have Aaron even getting drafted, while Andrew is mid to low second round. Aaron is a shooter that is at 30% from three this year. Andrew is progressing but is still too slow on defense

Yep, Aaron is a 2-guard who cant shoot, not much use if you're a 6'5 2-guard and cant shoot for the NBA. The only reason Andrew has any value is because he's the same size but can run the point so he's on the large side for a PG and does have a 2:1 AST:TO ratio. He really cant shoot either, but his 3 point % is much better than Aaron's. Andrew isn't even the best PG on his own team, but Ulis is about 5'9 which kills his NBA chances. Aaron isn't even close to the best SG on his own team, Booker makes him look plain awful.

Why? He would still get plenty of playing time off the bench and would have a shot at a final four.

Plenty of time? Blakeney, tq, JP, malik would play 85% of the guard minutes. And if mickey comes back, simmons will play a lot of 3.

Yep, Hornsby is clearly a team player to me. Dude just wants to win, he knows he's not an NBA player, but would love to make a deep tourney run. Like I said, we could almost go platoon system next year if we got Newman and M&M stayed:

Mickey
Martin
Simmons
Newman
Quarterman

Off Bench:
Robinson III
Victor
Hornsby
Blakeney
Patterson

Gray, Malone, Bridgewater, Epps eat up the blowout minutes or if someone gets injured (knock on wood but we've been lucky with injuries this year)...obviously one of those guys wouldn't be here if this scenario happened.

Hornsby could easily play the 3. He's a very solidly built 6'4 so he can handle other team's who play guards at the 3 and other teams who play a true small forward as well.

I think Gray could be a transfer candidate. But also, don't sleep on Gray. He has ability that not many on this team have, he's just not big enough to finish at the rim. But he's slowly becoming a pass first PG which is scary. IF he learns to drive and kick instead of going up for a layup he will be lethal. No one can deny his crazy handles and ability to get into the lane.

Before people start talking about his turnovers, look at his place since he started coming odf the bench. I think he's learning. Slowly, but I still think it's happening.

I'm pretty sure Blakeney would start instead of Quarterman and they would just put Newman at PG. All three of Newman, Blakeney and Simmons can handle the ball

Just the thought of
Mickey
Martin
Simmons
Blakeney
Newman

is just flat-out scary

Mickey likely isn't coming back, and Hornsby gets on the court before TQ and Patterson.

Well I know he can play the 3, but simmons, Blakeney, Malik, TQ all have precedent over him for the 2/3 spot. I love Horns and I'm sure if he got to the final four only playing 10-15 mins he would be fine

TQ is playing point guard, Newman and Blakeney are purely scoring guards.

And TQ>>Horns in terms of what they mean to the team.

Also, no one can say after the last few games Mickey is def leaving

Unless he got a hardship waiver he cant transfer, he's going into his senior year. So basically he would have to say he got ran off or something.

To me he's a valuable asset for the team next even if we get Newman because injuries DO happen and you know he can come in and give you 10-15 very solid minutes, or if need be give you 20-25 minutes. Gray seemingly has been better off the bench with more limited minutes.

Hornsby will get playing time. He is our best 3-point shooter.

It could go either way, I like Quarterman working with that first group because it's a very tall lineup with Quarterman having a lot of experience running the point as well. Newman is more of a combo guard than true point guard. I'd like for Newman and Blakeney to both play the 2 and think score score score while Quarterman and Patterson are distributors who can score in their own right. Plus, having Blakeney in that second group gives you a pure scorer you want coming off the bench. Quarterman can drop some points too, but he's no Blakeney when it comes to just ridiculous scoring games.

If Mickey leaves he won't get drafted at all. He's been playing like arse these last couple games. He isn't finishing at the rim, he isn't defending around the rim, and he's getting destroyed on the boards. If Jarell wasn't beasting right now we'd be out of the tournament.

Check out my lineup again, it works just fine:

Mickey
Martin
Simmons
Newman
Quarterman

Off Bench:
Robinson III
Victor
Hornsby
Blakeney
Patterson

Quarterman should be at the point way more than the 2 or 3.

Yeah, if I had to call it right now, Martin goes Mickey stays. I could live with that.

Mickey
Simmons
TQ
Blackeney
Newman

We would win a lot of games with that starting five.
