I've read on Twitter that LSU's chances are increasing and he may end up choosing the Tigers.

Would be incredible.

On mobile, otherwise would link.

Update 3/4: As of 2 p.m, Newman now has 4 crystal balls trending in favor of LSU.

That would be sweet. Playing well for the next couple of weeks and advancing in the NCAA would probably help.

Yea a lot of chatter with not a lot of substance. However, Jerry talks to Newman pretty often so without Jerry posting what was said, he made sure people took notice that LSU is certainly on the radar.

I think the more chatter that comes out the better though. Newman will take notice that LSU would have the #1 class in the country with his commitment. Would be a dream team of players for next year.

Man if Malik came.. We'd undoubtedly compete with anyone in the nation.

We already stand a helluva chance without him.

If Newman commits, would that increase the chance either Mickey and/or Martin stays?

Per Shea, Meyer thinks that Kentucky might be out of it now, and that Kansas is the team LSU needs to pass up to get Newman. This is going to be interesting.

If that's true, I like our chances.

Me too. It seems like Newman wants to stay closer to home than Kansas.

That's strange...why would UK be out of it I wonder? Surely the twins won't be returning.

Kentucky is not out of it.. The twins and Booker are gone after this year how and why would Meyer think there out of it?

I wouldn't rule out UK. I expect them to go far in the tourney and IMO it'd be hard for him not to get caught up in that.

Meyer directly talks to Newman.... So I'm assuming something Malik said?

Damn is this real life? I can't even imagine. If this happens, I feel bad for Hornsby

What makes you think this? Booker is most likely gone, but the twins have not solidified their draft position.

The twins just aren't NBA material, they really should have declared after last season to at least get drafted in the 1st round.

If they come back, it will be hard for Newman to choose UK considering the limited playing time he would get with the twins and Ulis still there. UK's platoon system is great but it's not as appealing to a top notch guy like Newman who may only get 20 minutes a game at best in it. If Newman goes to a school like MSU/OM/LSU he would get 30+ minutes all but guaranteed...would be a little hairy here at LSU because we return all of our guards...but he would play in front of Gray and Patterson for sure.

I mean just imagine a starting lineup of Quarterman, Newman, Simmons, Mickey and Martin with Patterson, Blakeney, Hornsby, Victor and Robinson being your primary guys off the bench. Gray would barely even be playing and he's a guy who can still give you 10-15 solid minutes.

Wow! Hadn't heard that one! That would be huge! Maybe the twins are staying. I did hear that if he stays in state, it's Miss State. I haven't heard anything about LSU one way or the other lately. I will be at the state semi's and finals. Hope to hear something there.
