Texas has been good for LSU

I don't have a problem with Texas or even OOS recruits in general...

I just want us to fully evaluate what we have in our own backyard first and I'm here to tell you it's not happening...

LSU in 2009 probably has close to 100( I dunno the exact #) OOS offers out there...How many offers in Louisiana not counting kids blessed enough to pick one up and commit already?... Freakin 4...

Maybe Louisiana is down big time, never seen it so low...

Maybe they have and came to the conclusion that the OOS kids are better.

But what do I know, right?

You still haven't named a single prospect in 2006, 2007, 2008, or 2009 that LSU snubbed who ended up elsewhere.

You could have said Chris Brown from '06 although that really wouldn't make sense since LSU chose 3 in-state running backs over him. You could have said Ahmad Paige, but he has been absolutely worthless so far. But instead, you posted a profile from an Arkansas tight end who will never play for LSU who claims he has an LSU offer although I don't think his name has been mentioned one time on this site.

Did you really just respond to your own post in a veiled attempt at sarcasm?

You are certifiably retarded.

Right..

Lets see...LSU has evaluated the entire state of Louisiana and come to the conclusion only 8 are worthy of "ships" at this point in time...Almost June..

Nevermind the fact that per capital no one does it as good as we do...Mississippi would be close, but you get the point..

We can offer the #50 ranked WR Kenny Shaw from Florida, but not the #52 ranked WR James Wright from Louisiana...Both 3 star kids for you star- babies...That's BS!

apparently you aren't aware that most in state offers are made in person, at camp.

per capital

what does the capital have to do with recruiting?

How do their skill sets compare and contrast? Maybe Shaw is a different type of receiver than Wright. And even if they are similar, Wright's offer probably wouldn't come until camp anyway.

Cajun, youve said the same thing about 5 times without elaborating. Youve instead just tried to degrade anyone who differs with you (nearly everyone). Support your statement with some facts. How do you feel LSU doesnt offer in state talent. I think we did a great job of recruiting LA. We lost a few which will happen. But who got snubbed last year. Who from LA would you trade for from this list (Out of state prospects) and why.
Sam Montgomery
Craig Loston
Dominique Allen
Stavion Lowe

Chris Garrett
Russell Sheppard
Drayton Calhoun

Again- your argument boils down to the fact that we should take the 52nd best WR over the 50th, simply based on where the recruit is from.

I think the coaching and scouting staff at LSU (you know, the guys that do it for a living) evaluate and pursue prospects on talent and NOT where they were born. If Miles offers Shaw from Florida and not Wright from Louisiana, I think he's earned my trust.

Why do you care so much if the guy is from La?

I mean, would you take J. Wright over Mike Davis or Justin Hunter. Thats the question.

That's a tough question...That's some pretty good talent right there and I'm glad we can get it...

I would swap a couple out though and feel good about it, for sure...

Ricky Johnson > or = Drayton Calhoun
DeQuinta Jones > Akiem Hicks (Jones will be a beast)
Patrick Lewis > Josh Williford (I don't care if he is shorter)
Jonathan Stewart > Kevin Minter (haven't really been impressed with our GA LB's yet)

Brandon Mitchell was another kid I wanted last year...

Bottom line:..These are just my opinions...

Damaris Johnson (4 star from Destrehan, La)
Freshman All American team this year...
University of Tulsa freshman Damaris Johnson was named to the 26-member Freshman All-America team by Sporting News magazine, it was announced today.
The true frosh led the Golden Hurricane in all-purpose yardage, while also leading C-USA in that statistical category with 2,201 all-purpose yards. Johnson set a school record with 1,319 yards and also added 608 receiving yards.
Johnson had six games with over 100 yards in kickoff return yardage, including a school single-game record of 211 yards against UTEP. In that game, Johnson returned a kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown. A week later, he had a 70-yard return against UCF and a week after that returned a kick 81 yards against Arkansas.
As a freshman, Johnson ranks fourth nationally in all-purpose yardage and is 22nd in the country for kick returns. He totaled 11 touchdowns for the Hurricane with nine coming through the air, one on the ground and the one kick return.

LaRon Byrd (lead Miami in TD catches last year as a freshman and will start this year)

Cajun...

I would be a happy man if I was trading with you.

Are you aware that Calhoun ran in the 4.3s at some camps last year.

Minter is a solid, solid MLB and should see PT at some point this year. Its not ideal to compare current players with commits because they are from the same state.

Williford and Lewis play different positions. Williford is 6.7 350 lb OG, Lewis is a 6'1 C or small OT at best. Lewis is a good prospect, but he's not an OG.

Jones and Hicks....well ill let the jury hear the whole case before I comment on this. Hicks is JC though and fills an immediate need where as Jones will take some development. Jones has alot of potential though. That being said, plenty of LA kids that dont get offered by LSU, do really well for themselves. Sometimes we just dont have a need at that time.

I see you have some issues about who we took last year, but thats only 4 prospects that you have an argument for. And that argument can easily be debated with the talent you are comparing them too. I think your point of view in this thread is slightly exaggerated.

Those are both very good players, but I wonder kind of numbers Chris Tolliver and Tim Molton would have put up if they were at Tulsa and Miami, and conversely if Johnson and Byrd were at LSU. Would they have gotten playing time behind Lafell, Byrd, Toliver, etc?

It's an interesting question, but keep in mind that those guys were not offered by LSU because the coaches preferred Tolliver, DeAngelo Peterson, Tim Molton, and Jhryn Taylor, who were all from LA. It's similar to Chris Brown going to Oklahoma because LSU preferred Keiland, Charles Scott, and Richard Murphy.

I think everyone would agree Miles and Co. have recruited extremely well over the last few years. Im not sure I see why you are arguing that they do anything differently.
