Said the staff is confident he will commit to Tennessee on a camp trip next month. If true, that would suck. For some reason, I just feel like we won't land Heaps, Lee, Scroggins or Montana and going after the best in-state prospect would be a good idea and that's Legaux IMO. Hate to see Tennessee establishing a pipeline to LA, we already have to fight off Saban.

That being said I think it's funny they ran off Boyd last year when they desperately needed a QB citing him not fitting their offense being a dual threat and now the top guy on their chart who they think they can get is also a dual-threat. What a fail that staff has been in QB recruiting.

I can't figure that staff out...every "adult" with eyes knows there is something wrong there, but the kids just keep a comming.

So they've given up on Heaps and Scroggins?

He said they have given up on Montana, Heaps looks BYU bound and Scroggins just got a USC offer.

Scroggins doesnt have a USC offer. That was a false rumor. And Legaux to UT wouldnt necessarily be a bad thing.

I'm sure the staff know what they're doing, but it's starting to seem that La. recruits are leaving the state more frequent and signing earlier.

We have Big 12, Pac 10, SEC, and Big 10 schools recruiting La. hard.

Hopefully we can slow that flow because any momentum with 2010 can spill right into the 2011 recruits. Shouldn't allow any school to get too much momentum.

LSU signs the top in-state recruits and the rest go elsewhere. That's how it works. 2 or 3 times out of 10, a player that signs elsewhere ends up being a good player. This is not rocket science.

I'm not overly concerned with who we get at QB this year. Maybe I should be, but as long as we sign one, I know it will be a solid player who might only need to step for a short period of time.

Most everyone knows that Louisiana is a hotbed for D1 prospects except Les Miles/Company...It hasn't sunk in yet, but it will...

I read somewhere last week that Scroggins had received an offer from Florida and was planning to camp with them this summer.

Honestly the qb crop this year is poor and with 4 on scholly we really don't need one. JJ looks like money. JL will mature and surprise a bunch of people. RS will be in the mix as a Kordell "Slash" Stewart do it all player. Chris Garrett just may be the best of the lot when all is said and done. This kid is better than most on the board think.

Scroggins - USC & Florida offers

5/21/09...
quote:

USC was going to wait until the Rising Stars Camp before they offered but after watching him, they said they had seen enough and have offered.”

quote:

On Thursday, Scroggins lobbed a phone call to Florida coach Urban Meyer and the Gators have offered as well.

quote:

“I’m hyped on Florida for sure,” Scroggins said. “They win national championships there and coach Meyer does a great job with the quarterback position. They said they’re changing the offense after Tebow graduate to a more drop back style offense and they brought in Scott Loeffler to be the OC there and that’s the kind of offense he has always run so I know it will be a good fit for me.

quote:

Scroggins was equally excited by the offer from USC.
