So assuming Mays, Sampson, And Tremont Waters are all still around in 2018-19 when Smart gets here who starts? I'm assuming Smart will be a McDonald's All American and given his decision to pass up other blue blood basketball programs I feel he mist have been given some sort of guarantee that he will start as a freshman. It seems like Sampson would be the natural fit next to Smart

You can never have too many point guards.

Also, I think Smart is more of a combo

It's crazy to think how wade has literally turned the direction of the program around in just a few months of the offseason, .

He's definitely accelerated the timeline of this rebuild.

Starting lineup right now for 2018-2019...

1- Waters
2- smart
3- Sampson
4- Kirr
5- Bigby-Williams

still TONS of recruiting to do!

Right now, the Center would be the Oregon transfer assuming he stays and we sign no one better. That's not bad.

If you haven't already drunk the Wade koolaid.....now is about the time to get yourself about as many big gulps as you can possibly handle....this man has singlehandly turned around the culture of LSU basketball that had such an enormous black cloud over it since the Simmons debacle that it's almost unreal. Landing all of the guys he has and turning over the roster this quickly would've by itself been so admirable, but to land the states top prospect and this kid being a consensus 5 star and top 15-20 player nationally is icing on a cake that hasn't even been put in the oven yet. Alleva probably saved his job with the Wade hire and the new coach will only continue to make giant waves in the CBB world. So pumped over this commitment.

Do you actually think Mays would stick around and be a bench player behind two guys younger than him? I think he would definitely transfer in that situation

I do. He'd still see tons of playing time and Sampson would be a Senior. It might make sense for him to start in different situations. Honestly, any player should expect that there is always competition and that the right (best?) players should play at the right time.

Sampson is an off-guard, not PG.

Mays is going to need to learn to shoot because I'd put Waters and Smart ahead of him at PG. I think in 2018 you'd see:

C: Mayan Kiir
PF: Naz Reid (oh yeah, I went there)
SF/G: Brandon Sampson
G: Waters
PG: Smart

That's the best on the floor IMO. Mays off the bench would still see a lot of minutes.

Being on the bench doesn't mean you dont play. He would still probably play 20 minutes a game or so.

Lets not get hung up on who starts and who doesnt. The ball Wade plays requires lots of minutes from 8-10 players on the roster
