Malik Monk seemed to provide a spark off the bench as a 1-2 guard. Seems Cal would be looking at more than one or two five star players to replace his gaurd losses

It's not, you're right, I just been talking too long to these younguns on here. To them the '80's is ancient history. But I see some others don't agree either, so I'll say it differently and say that Wade is bringing in an impressive group of players all at the same time and will continue it on a consistent basis like no recent coach has done before him. And I think he will continue to do so until LSU is a powerhouse in BBall again, if he's still at LSU.

to those other two guys that posted to me, yes, I know about Simmons and that the other coaches brought in top 30 players. But Simmons is just one player and the other coaches brought in top players a little at a time to LSU while letting top LA players go to other schools around the country in droves over the years. Just look what happened with Robinson and that top SG right there from baton rouge leaving. I think if Wade was at LSU before that happened, they would have never committed to WKU, he would have locked them down.

You must be a very casual basketball fan and don't follow recruiting. There were two other top 50 players in the class with Simmons. Johnny signed two classes with three top 75 players. Again, it's very easy to praise Coach Wade without mentoring past coaches.

The best coach in the history of basketball could have been at LSU and Robinson would have signed with WKU.

Are you forgetting Simmons? Simmons was the #1 high school prospect and passed on Duke to join his Godfather or whatever.
we knew Simmons was coming here like 3 years prior and the only reason he came was because of his Godfather

Let's not pretend JJ actually outrecruited Duke to get him

Your words are irrelevant. That poster said "Will Wade is doing things that other coaches before him at LSU never did bringing in these type of players"

As it stands right now, Jones still brought in a higher rated player than Wade has, which makes that poster completely wrong. Jones sucked, but that poster is still wrong.

that's utter bullshite, you don't know that and no I'm not a casual LSU BBall fan, I have been following them since the Brown era as I said. Wade probably would have did whatever it took to get Robinson there if it included hiring a former coach of his or relative, I'm sure he would have gave a much harder effort than Jones. And yeah, Jones may have gotten another top LA recruit there or two like Martin and Mickey, but none with the top billing and impact as a Simmons. That's the kind of players that I'm sure a Wade will keep bringing to LSU on a consistent basis as long as he's there.

Jones brought in few over his entire career, but this man has been at LSU only a short period of time and look what he's already done getting Smart, Miir to come there, the top PG kid who's name I can't remember right now, and maybe Reid and others. Just wait til he gets a whole normal year and more to do what he does. That's what I'm talking about, but I don't expect y'all to understand, you'll just keep throwing up these bullshite arguments in defense of bad coaches for some strange reason.

Just watched a ton of Smart film. Kid is smooth although not too explosive. Like his pacing & dribbling ability. Solid first step. Looks like a calculated passer, while not spectacular he does make the right passes and finds the open man.

He doesn't take too many outside shots which leads me to believe he isn't that great of a shooter. He has a flat footed set shot with low shooting trajectory. Reading up with some of time with team USA confirms this is a work in progress.

Looks long and every bit of 6'4" . Long legs and decent wing span. My comparison is Jrue Holiday

Numbers from his draft express profile:

quote:

Has the size to see over the top of the defense and facilitate - 6.9 assists and 1.9 turnovers per 40 minutes at FIBA U17 World Championships. Can use either hand to pass. Shows some occasional flair with no look drop off passes.

quote:

Has to rely on his size and touch around the rim, where he made 6-of-13 shots at the U17s. Average leaper. Can add more crafty ways to finish around the rim. 42.9% from 2-point range at the U17s and 36.1% from 2-point range in 41 games in our database.

quote:

Capable shooter but isn't all that consistent - 5-of-20 from 3-point range at U17s and 46-of-177 (26.0%) according to 41 games in our database. Flat-footed stroke from three. Doesn't get into his shot that quickly. Low release point. Ball comes off the side of his hand at times. Doesn't get that tight of rotation.

quote:

-Doesn't get to the foul line all that often - 2.5 times per 40 minutes at the U17s.

Your reading comprehension is horrible, nowhere in my comments did I defend bad coaches. I just think it's ridiculous for adults to bring up Johnny in every basketball thread. Coach Wade is doing an amazing job, let's keep the attention and praise on him.

Again you show your ignorance about the Robinson recruitment. He was committed to A&M, was there a relative of his on that staff? The current head coach of WKU was on that staff though. Correct me if I'm wrong, the relative you're referring to was on a college staff when Robinson committed to A&M.

Let's get back to CWW

Or 2.9 to be exact at 36%. Which isn't bad but not exactly elite either

The thing to remember about Smart is he's got 18 months' worth of improvement left until he dons the purple & gold.

You jackass mofo'er ! Yeah, sure I'm the one that's ignorant and lame and all that bullshite when you're the one that brought up Jones and all the top recruits that he brought in, but we keep bringing him up. And you're the idiot that said the best college coach in history couldn't bring in Robinson, talk about lame, dumbass comment, but of course you wanna try and belittle my response as to what I thought Wade may have done to try and bring in Robinson. frick you !

I think you're the one in need of reading comprehension skills, you need a update. You misconstrued what I said about Wade from the beginning, one thing you are right about is that I have had enough of this shite, so don't respond.
