re: '14 WR; Big Board Discussion - D'haquille Willams update? (PG. 9)Posted by supatigah on 5/12/13 at 12:46 am to Lester Earl
It's a two way street big LE, LSU hasn't gone cold on him. They are looking at other options at WR because their WR philosophy is being dictated by Cameron to Henry
Quinn is looking at his options because he wants to go to an offense that throws the ball. It has to be a fit for the school and the kid too.
TTU has a history with WRs like Quinn.
I am not saying he won't go to LSU, I don't know what he will do. I was told right now they want three WR in this class. That can easily change. Long time until NSD
FTR I want Quinn at LSU. I love the kid's ability and attitude, I just won't be surprised if he goes somewhere else. Especially if it is a big 12 school that throws it 60 times a game.
You and I are in agreement on Noil

TTU doesnt put WRs into the NFL though. Or QBs. Gimmick offense.
OK St i could see.
I just can't see LSU only taking 1 more WRs. Unless none of these guys want to come here.
can't see it changing that much to where this kid wouldnt fit.

Crabtree, Welker and amendola are pretty good NFL WRs from the pirate's time at TTU LE
Kingsbury is recruiting leach's system again.
Even though it wasn't Cameron's decision, taking a flyer on kevin spears was a pretty good indication of the new WR recruiting philosophy. Look at the size of the rest of the OP list. Noil and Quinn are not like the others.
We'll see how it shakes out.

Amendola & Welker both undrafted though.
Those guys have no stock coming out of college, except Crabtree.
That's not even getting into going to the 6th or 7th best program in the Big 12. Playing in the Meineke bowl every year. Sounds like a blast
Well, not every WR can be 6'3"+. You need some guys to fill the slot(even though i think Quinn can play on the outside).

LSU is taking three WRs in this class and they already have two. Noil is the third WR but he will be given the chance to play DB if he wants to
no way on earth they pass on dupre in any circumstance or take less than 5 WRs

I'd like to see Quinn in purple and gold, but I'd say its unlikely at this point.
And why assume LSU is the side going cold? If Quinn wants to be a Tiger, he has a commitable offer. HE its the one that's gone cold on LSU. He wants ten touches a game, and that ain't happening in this offense. It is what it is, but I love the automatic blame the LSU staff game.
I see four high school wide receivers plus quille.

Supa said LSU has softened on him which is hard to believe

has Quinn said this in an interview? That ain't happennin in any offense. By my count, 2 WRs in college football got 10 touches a game last year, Tavon Austin and Marquise Lee.

LSU will take Dupre and Noil regardless of when they want to commit. They each have a spot all the way up to signing day

I have also heard OK State and Texas Tech regarding Quinn.
Biggest competition for Quinn is likely Clemson. Morris has made both he and Dupre a priority. I see no chance Clemson pulls Dupre, but if LSU gets WR heavy early without showing Quinn the love he deserves he could get Dabo'ed, especially with Morris leading the way. He apparently loves both Dupre and Quinn.

Spot on but the WR position at LSU needs a complete overhaul.
It would have been great to have a huge, fast, deep threat. But that's a rare thing. Other than that, last year's group was excellent.

Ahhh so you know how our board stacks up on wr's?
Jrusse8 and Lester Earl, both of you implied/stated that you have inside information, and neither of you knows shite. Plus, both of you routinely express idiotic opinions. Now, idiotic opinions are de rigueur on here - I have a few of my own - but please quit pretending you talked to a coach. And, if you did, he probably went to the next coaches' meeting and said, "Guess what this idiot asked me."

I'm referring to the depth we'll have when this 14 class comes to campus. Somebody else has already broken down the depth chart in this thread. Seek that out.
Our WRs were not excellent last year. Sorry. As a group they do a terrible job of getting separation.
Lots of misinformation in this thread. Granted most of what all of us post is speculation/opinion but we do at least get info from the insiders and most of this stuff doesn't jive with what they are saying. Give the staff until July, see who commits by then and then let the rumors and speculation begin. I'd bet at least 2 of the aforementioned wrs will be committed somewhere by then.

I seriously doubt he goes to a school so far away like Clemson

Lake Charles to Lubbock 675 mi
Lake Charles to Clemson 775 mi
Is 100 miles at that point really a big deal?

Only 100 extra miles to not have to go to Lubbock? shite yeah that would make a difference to me.

Fishhead I call bullshite on this. I really don't think Quinn came out and said he wants wants 10 touches a game. If that how he truly feels he should move on because that's not what LSU needs. That's selfishness. And nobody wants a spoiled boy crying because he wants touches.
