Effective way to keep pool water cooler.

What are some of the best options to keep the pool water cool during these scorching times?

Easiest option is to get fountains that go on your return jets and run them at night.

Buy an aerator. We are actually selling our team's model now since we are now an exclusive indoor swim program (had to buy it during Covid). You can get a good model for about $1,000.

Or you could make two for about $15.
The two I made consistently lowered my pool temp by 4 degrees, which is not great, but can be the difference between swimmable and not.

1. Unscrew the eyeball nozzle from your pool. I think I just used channel lock pliers to grab it and turn it counter clockwise.
2. Take this piece to the store and get one with the same size male threads, and an adapter for the other end to get you down to 3/4" sched 40 pvc.
3. Look at my pic and get the rest of the fittings and a piece of 3/4" pvc. The valve allows you to adjust the flow, I highly recommend this.
4. Drill some holes. The straighter you drill them, the better it will look in action.
5. I didn't glue anything together.
6. Plug in and enjoy.
I had two pool returns, so I did this for both of them. The valves allow you to adjust them for the highest flow without it shooting out of the pool.

Next trick is to keep the damn kids from hanging off of it. At least it's a cheap fix it they do break it.

i've had several in the past and they work pretty well until debris builds up in the holes.

I just ordered a chiller. I wasn't going to have those sprinkler things everywhere to lower my pool by one degree.

they're fun. the kids love them; I only have one and you can rotate it sideways so its under the water and doesn't make any noise if you get tired of the waterfall sound. just rotate it back when you're done and let it run all night.
i actually find the sound relaxing.

I have mine jerry rigged. because my pool doesnt have threads on the return pipe. it is smooth on the inside for friction fit inserts. I have yet to find something that fits well without electrical tape.

I am a new pool owner. Didnt expect the temps to climb to 93 in June.
I have gotten mine down to 86 this morning by the following:
1. Slightly cooler nights
2. Those fountain spray deals running from 10 pm till 7AM.
3. Run deck jets at same time.
4. Turned off bubbler for day time.
5. I think the biggest thing that yielded positive results was shade. I open three umbrellas on the east edge of my pool that provide a good bit of shade to the pool through mid day. I have one in the pool in my lounge area one over the deep and one over the shallow.
Has made it somewhat refreshing for an afternoon swim. it was 91 at the peak yesterday.
If we get this type of heat again next summer in June I will install a chiller immediately.

So if you have a waterfall already you don’t need these fountains….

We just put ours in last week. Running it at night will lower the temps by 10 degrees.

I ran my bubblers and waterfall and it may make a slight difference, but it basically goes away after lunch for me.

Bought a 1-1/2” piece that screws into the jet but it’s slightly too small. Any idea the size of yours?
