Based on the number of people on here that are Keto I'd assume at worst you guys are impartial to it. I've always sided against it, even though there's little evidence that it's either helpful or harmful. I've just always run on the premise that since our bodies can't digest them, then they can't do us any good, so I steered myself and family members away from them.

Here comes the good part. Tonight I made my nightly casein shake when I decided to glance over the ingredients. To my surprise I saw none other than sucralose. Caught me off guard, so I looked at all of the other supps in my cabinet: whey, BCAA's, preworkout and sure enough - sucralose. This one really made me feel like an idiot because I should have known, they can't be that sweet and have almost no carbs, but I sort of never paid attention to it; I guess I was looking for a big Splenda sign on stuff when I was avoiding artificial sweeteners.

This ones got me feeling pretty dumb, as my dad and I just talked to my mom about her Splenda with coffee and diet sodas, not knowing I probably consume more of it than she does.

Anywho, what's your opinion on them?

I think it's like most anything else.. The dose makes the poison. Drink plenty of water and your body will get rid of it.

I try to limit my intake of it. Instead of diet soda, I mostly drink unsweet tea instead.

There are studies that it contributes to the metabolic syndrome. More recent studies have shown that they may contribute to an increased risk of stroke and dementia.

Like anything else, I'm sure they aren't bad for you in moderation. However, as you point out they tend to be in everything "healthy" these days.

I use Stevia where I can but sometimes its inevitable to consume other artificial sweeteners. Fine in moderation is my stance.

As far as sodas are concerned they are all garbage. If I am gonna have a Coke or Dr. Pepper I am just gonna have a regular one. Not delude myself that a diet one is healthy.

Just drastically curb their use. I may have a soda 2-3 times a week. When I do, it's a real one.

you talking mexican coke or american? nothing good at all about the american ones. Full of corn syrup. pure garbage.

I've been having half a coke zero with lunch every day and it has not impacted my weight loss at all. it's zero calories so it won't hurt your progress imo.

Definitely drink alot of water though.

I LOL at the people who say they drink regular soda over diet for fear of artificial sweeteners.

All in moderation. I drink 2-3 coke zero's per week. Its great during an IF

Layne Norton and the Avatar crew is big on showing studies that say it has no harmful affects.

A study will come on this week saying they cause AIDS, cancer of the nuts, and Ebola. Next week they will come out with a study saying they are all good and none of that study was true.

Why? If you are gonna drink shite, drink shite! I am admitting that a Coke or better yet a Dr. Pepper is complete arse nutritionally. I just prefer to drink mine with plain old sugar or fructose and not some shite conjured up in a lab. Talking the original 3. I know zero about Stevia other than it tastes like crap. Drinking a Diet Coke, to me, is like eating a macdonalds burger. Why? If you're gonna eat a burger, eat a good one. It's a cheat meal or beverage, is it not?

i've given up cokes almost entirely and i'm in this camp. it's not like just because there's 0 calories doesn't mean there is't some chemical stuff going on in there that's any better for you. sugar or froctose is better than stuff made in a lab to me.

all that being said, i can count on one hand the amount of cokes i've had this year. beer on the other hand...

i'm really just confused on your logic. you do realize that cokes in america are made "in a lab" with high fructose corn syrup. Only way to get real sugar ones are like the mexican cokes and i believe pepsi does a real sugar one.

honestly, coke zero tastes almost as good as american coke and its zero calories. sucks they are phasing it out.

There is some evidence that they cause a lot of damage to the gut flora that affect the body's ability to down regulate blood sugar levels.

I use sucralose. I like sweet drinks, and if I used sugar to sweeten them I would probably gain quite a bit of weight. Plus sugar makes me feel awful when I have a lot of it.

Not a big fan of the taste of most of them. I know sucralose is in some of the stuff I eat because I try to follow a low carb diet. It just tastes off to me. Like those Quest Protein bars to me are just way too sweet and artificial tasting.

I'll use some Dasani flavoring in my water from time to time if I want something different. I still use regular sugar in my coffee and maybe once a week I'll drink a regular Coke.

They usually have a funky aftertaste or certain ones give me Gastro issues. So I usually don't use them.
