Went for the second time last night and I just don't get it. People RAVE about their burgers. I ordered one of the burgers that had a piece of smoked ham on it and it was terrible. Way overcooked and absolutely nothing special. Friends had the peanut butter/bacon burger and said it was good. Did I just order the wrong thing? What's with the hype?

I'm kind of with you only because of the following statement: I used I rave about it until I had both Cowbell and High Hat burger. Those are on another level

There are other greats out now too.

Ralph's
La Petite Grocery
both had great burgers and there are more high end burgers at other restaurants.

(I had a list of five in my head but drew a a blank)

I'll help
Luke
Cowbell
Company burger
High hat
Truburger
Baie rouge (brunch burger specifically)
Port of Call

Never had the burger at yo mama's so I can't comment. Have heard it's good though like others. Been craving a burger lately may have to divulge into one today.

I agree. Had it twice, once drunk and once hungover, and both times were terrible. Overcooked and tasteless.

I was trying to think of only sit down type places.
Personally I'm very partial to Company Burger. I'm also a fan of Tru Burger but they don't seen to be as popular here, I like the options they give you.

For a straight up no frills burger Company is the best, IMO.
High Hat is set apart by the thickness of it's patty and that glorious Pimento topping. Cowbell has that sauce that lifts theirs. I was always a fan of Lee's BooKoo burger, I loved the Bouding on top and the sauce he used.

I'm surprised no high end place in the city has come out with a ultra premium burger, like you see all over New York.

I didn't get the Burger at Luke yet.

Baie Rouge was one I have heard in passing, but know very little of the restaurant. Is it one of those restaurants in a house that they have uptown?

No it's very spacious. I love the decor. Overall I think baie rouge is underrated although it is hit or miss.

Ralph's? Are you referring to the place by City Park?

I hate this place. The bartenders are also the waitresses. They stand behind the bar and smoke, which to me is a deal breaker. Employees from the kitchen come in and stand at the corner of the bar and smoke, instead of stepping outside.. All I taste and smell when I've been there is cigarette smoke.
