Hit up the shrimp lot on the Westbank.
Agreed. Best seafood market in NOLA. If you are that close, hit up Mo's pizza right down the street....

re: Pensacola Recs - EMILIO
I'm sure it will be said, but don't miss Joe Patti's. That place is a wonderland. Can't, for the life of me, figure out why there is not an exact replica around NOLA?...

re: The French Laundry - EMILIO
I have to wonder how many times a year are they selling a $20K bottle of Screaming Eagle or Romanee-Conti
We sit on big bottles pretty much perpetually. Maybe once or twice a year do we sell something like a DRC or Harlan. Super high end stuff collects dust....

re: The French Laundry - EMILIO
Can you share how you got the reservation?
I am the General Manager of a Dickie Brennan restaurant. Blessed that we have such a great relationship with the Thomas Keller brand. The people at TFL were nice enough to open up a rezo for me when I called. My job certainly has it's perk...
I don't care what anyone says...take pics
I'm currently in the restaurant business and people take pics of their food at 75% of the tables I see. Is this now frowned upon?...

The French Laundry - EMILIO
Going to Napa at the end of next week and I have reservations for the wife and I at TFL. Can anyone shed some light on what to expect? Share any experiences? I know its a tasting menu and I also am aware that we will be spending some money (fine with that). Just wanting that meal to be a memorable o...

re: Best wings in New orleans - EMILIO
Don't write off the sauceless wings until you try Golden Wings in Terrytown. Best wings in NOLA. Second best are Blue Oak. Neither are "Buffalo" style though....

re: Joe Patti's Seafood must haves? - EMILIO
Same here. It's become a fixture in our plans.
And usually, we are staying in Orange Beach. It's well worth the extra hour or so there and back. I say it every year, THERE IS NO REASON THAT NOLA DOES NOT HAVE A PLACE EXACTLY LIKE THIS. Somewhere?? Either on the Westbank in Westwego...

re: Joe Patti's Seafood must haves? - EMILIO
I'd go there for the fresh stuff though. The sushi bar is solid and the fresh fish kick ass. That's what I'd be dropping some money on. Frozen stuff is nothing to go looking for. I make at least one or two annual trips there. We usually head there on the first day of the beach trip, load up, and e...

re: So Nola has a beer and oyster festival this wknd - EMILIO
Yeah it is. I think they are a relatively new fest so most of the prime fest times are already taken. The old school mentality of no raw oysters in the summer needs to go away though. Wildlife & Fisheries and the FDA are all over our oysters, constantly testing and regulating. As long at the restaur...

re: Foods for a 1-2 year old - EMILIO
I have a little Coonass baby (17 mos). I make her eggs and boudin every Saturday. She demolishes gumbo and jambalaya. She also kills any seafood that we cook. It's been great. Daily though, she eats some of what we eat at dinner time or we will make some simple stuff for her (grilled cheese or meat...
