re: Joe Patti's Seafood must haves? - EMILIO on 6/4/16 at 12:39 am
Same here. It's become a fixture in our plans.
And usually, we are staying in Orange Beach. It's well worth the extra hour or so there and back. I say it every year, THERE IS NO REASON THAT NOLA DOES NOT HAVE A PLACE EXACTLY LIKE THIS. Somewhere?? Either on the Westbank in Westwego...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (2)

I'd go there for the fresh stuff though. The sushi bar is solid and the fresh fish kick ass. That's what I'd be dropping some money on. Frozen stuff is nothing to go looking for. I make at least one or two annual trips there. We usually head there on the first day of the beach trip, load up, and e...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: So Nola has a beer and oyster festival this wknd - EMILIO on 6/3/16 at 11:27 pm
Yeah it is. I think they are a relatively new fest so most of the prime fest times are already taken. The old school mentality of no raw oysters in the summer needs to go away though. Wildlife & Fisheries and the FDA are all over our oysters, constantly testing and regulating. As long at the restaur...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Foods for a 1-2 year old - EMILIO on 6/3/16 at 11:23 pm
I have a little Coonass baby (17 mos). I make her eggs and boudin every Saturday. She demolishes gumbo and jambalaya. She also kills any seafood that we cook. It's been great. Daily though, she eats some of what we eat at dinner time or we will make some simple stuff for her (grilled cheese or meat...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)

re: Whiskey/Bourbon/Scotch appreciation thread Volume II - EMILIO on 6/3/16 at 10:19 pm
I know nothing about this Leap Day label. Can anyone shed some light? Also, I just got some Hancock Reserve and Rock Hill farms. Very excited bc I haven't seen them around or tasted them in years. I haven't opened them yet but I'm curious if you guys have any tasting notes..... ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Yuengling headed to Louisiana - EMILIO on 6/1/16 at 3:50 pm
"Beer guys"? You mean liquor stores, right?
No, I mean on-premise beer salesmen. Also, not sure I know anyone that plans to drink Yuengling bc it has a funny/cool sounding name. I'd also say that at the price point and category that YL is in, it's a solid beer. It wont be marke...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)

Wasnt the BR show the one that MJK was clearly sick and just sat down a lot behind DC? I remember the NOLA show being shortly after and it was FAR better....
