Domenica is always my go to, and I haven't been to Dolce Vita since they opened up in Nola. I'm now seeing that Wood Pizza Bistro and Taphouse has some pretty good weekday specials and happy hour plus a decent beer selection, but I've never been. Any others?

Ranking top 3 just on pizza?

I've been to wood, but not the others you listed. Wood is really good. Cool atmosphere, and a decent beer list. It's a great courtyard area, but make sure it's not 100 degrees out when you go.

I currently think Wood is the best fancy pizza in town with Oak Oven being best out of town.

(This doesn't count the food trucks)

I was at the ww2 museum last time I was in town. Was walking to the butcher and saw a long line. Thought that place looked ok. Did few beavis laughs at the name, haha wood.

It's pretty damn good pizza. It might not be as good domenica but it's very close. Would 100% go back. Solid outdoor seating and decent wine/beer list; I could spend an afternoon casual watching college football and drinking there

Nice. I'll be in the CBD for a few days in a couple weeks for work so looking to try some new casual spots without having to hop in a cab. I tend to get stuck on repeat with my wife and we end up at the same spots.

Thinking this will be my plan for Sunday or MNF.

i do not remember the tv situation being that great but i went in February when nothing was on. However, its great place to watch that 11am or 230 game that you do not really care about.

Wood is good, I'd still rather Domenica or Dolce Vita if I'm going with wood fired pizza, though.

It's worth a try.

I haven't been to Domenica in awhile but do go to PD often. You take one bite of the pizza and all the toppings come off with it.

Wood Pizza Bistro

Not a fan of their pie. It is something with their dough recipe.
It is a cool concept but it gets hot outside AND inside.

Prepared to get slammed for this, but I think Blaze is as good, if not possibly a bit better than Wood. I actually like Wood okay, but the chain that can get you a damn good inexpensive pie in two minutes deserves a mention in this discussion of Downtown pizza, I think.

I haven't been to Dolce Vida since Bogdan sold it, it was good, Domenica is better. Haven't tried the others.

Love some wood fired pizza.

Runningtiger/Tulane, that you?

I'm curious to try it, but I'll be looking for a beer with it, so maybe another trip.

They sell beer. Pretty limited, like Nola and Abita on draft. But, they have it.

I will go Dolce Vita every time if given those options.

Bogdan cooking was the best pizza in town. Crust was perfect. I went there a lot and the two times when he happened to be out, there was a noticeable decrease in quality. I have not been back since he left. How is it compared to when he was there?

I went there a couple of days ago. White sauce, mozzarella, grilled chicken, onion, spinach, ricotta for < $8 and in 3 minutes. I am a fan.
Plus, you can walk next door to Willa Jean for some coffee or dessert.

Have only been once since he left, twice since it was announced he was leaving.

The crust was still really good. Wasn't all soggy like a lot of wood fired pizzas, doesn't sag and drip off all the toppings.

People often assume it's the chef or the dough when a wood fired pizza is soggy. In my experience, it's often the line cook manning the oven. Temps can fluctuate greatly in those things and it really takes an experienced cook to get it down just like a grill cook mastering proteins on an open flame. Just takes getting used to your equipment and the touch and feel approach when you're firing those things on a busy night.

I won't blame Shaya or Besh for every soggy limp pizza I have had at Domenica.
