Their manufacturing facility in Everett, Mass. Was cited for violations including but not limited to;
quote:

failer to manufacture, package and store foods under conditions and controls necessary to minimize the potential for growth of microorganisms and contamination

Condensate dripping from ceiling on to food contact surfaces

quote:

maintain equipment in an acceptable condition through appropriate cleaning and sanitizing as required by 21 CFR 110.80(b)(1).

Presence of Listeria welshimeri which is an indication of ideal conditions for the growth of Listeria monocytogenes. Quaternary sanitizer wasn't mixed to proper concentration.
quote:

hand-washing facilities lack running water of a suitable temperature as required by 21 CFR 110.37(e).

This would be very disturbing news, if I shopped at WF...

You'd be amazed at what goes on behind the scenes in the grocery world. I worked for both Whole Foods and Trader Joes (Fresh Market briefly as well) and, like any business anywhere, there are always people there who lack integrity and cut many corners.

Trader joes is the shite

I hardly ever buy anything at whole foods unless I'm hosting something nice and want something specific. I don't don't get the bang to hype with it. The fruit and veggies I have bought there don't taste any better than my local Kroger.

Trader Joe's makes a few frozen things that I like. Can't think of anything in particular at Whole Foods that makes me want to go there, although I do sometimes. I'm excited about the new Rouses opening in BR...Alexander's Market & Costco have very good steaks. I love grocery stores.

Oh, and I'm currently burnt out on Calvin's chicken salad, but that won't last too long.

Not surprised. I saw a Whole Foods employee not wash his hands after using the restroom and walk right into the pizza prep kitchen. I mentioned it to the manager of the area and his response, "Oh, he's on break."

These marks probably aren't as bad as they are being read.

Newer and stricter health board codes sound super harsh for really little stuff..

i.e

"Cold Potentially Hazardous foods not Maintained Below 40F" Critical Violation
when in reality , the inspector found a bag of pepperoni that was temped at 43F.

I'm not saying these could be bad... but it's probably not a reason to grab torches.

This. Most of this stuff is usually the result of one person somehow pissing off the wrong health inspector -- nothing more, nothing less. You can go into literally ANY food service facility and find something if you want.

Me too. What am I going to do, go to rouses or winn Dixie on Tchoup with the poors!?! Joking, but those particular locations are gross.

I do find WFs very hypocritical with their seafood. Any local species such as redfish, shrimp, snapper, mahi, or tuna is flown in from halfway around the world. Someone should tell them they can get that stuff 30 mins away.

Whole Foods is dogshit.

Central Market/HEB are head and shoulders above any Whole Foods I've ever been in.

I can get better priced/quality produce and meat without the county-ness from soccer moms and SJWs that I so often encounter at WF.
