I wouldn't go that far, but they'd both be in the running for top 10 breweries. In my opinion.

Wow..

Best in the US I would nominate Lost Abbey

Best in World.. I would have it between Westvleteren or Struise.

Im partial to Abbey brews generally though.

Have you had a chance to try some of the Lost Abbey stuff?? They are in the San Diego area. Was pretty damn good.. Good enough that they chose to serve it in Belgium.

I've tried the Bourbon-Barrel Aged Angel's Share, but it was part of a tasting so it's hard to really have an opinion other than that it was really good and I wanted some more.

I've also tried the Hwy. 78 Scotch Ale which is a collaboration between Stone, Green Flash, and Pizza Port. Pizza Port of course being a part of Port Brewing, which is the same brewery as Lost Abbey.

Goose Island Bourbon County Stout... if I had to name just one.

If I remember correctly, this isn't bottled, but it's offered exclusively at the brewpub. I had this Stout with a burger at the Wrigleyville location.

You remember incorrectly... but it's still not available here. Maybe the AB buyout will open up their distribution some. Hopefully the quality doesn't suffer as a result.

Coors Light

You need to get out of Ouachita Parish every now and then.

It's been over a decade since I've lived in Chitown. I'm also (was) a fan of the now defunct Wild Onion brewery. Those brothers put out some great brew until they hit the lottery and got out of the business. They brewed the only beer that I could say had a hint of grapefruit.

They could scrap their entire regular lineup and just to the DR 9, 10, and 11 and I'd be happy, but the majority of their fans would be pissed.

Some people just can't appreciate a barleywine. (Although I thought the DR barleywine was just okay as far as barleywines go...)

To be fair, they probably didn't bottle the BCS back then.

Really? A lot of hoppy beers have a grapefruit flavor. It's not directly from grapefruit but that's the flavor some hops impart.

The first Mikkeller Single Hop Warrior IPA had a ton of grapefruit. Loved it. I've had it twice since then and got none of it. Maybe my palate is tricking me?

Cantillon Geuze

Although Ayinger Brau-Weisse at the brewery was damn fine as well.

I had Kilt Lifter in Seattle and it was very good as well.

They are bringing back an old DR. Not sure the number but it was the pumpkin beer. Maybe #7 or 8?

FTR I can appreciate a barleywine but it took some getting used to. I can't handle it in this heat though. I have a few at home that will be saved till November.
