Asada. We are doing it in memory on my wife's mom and aunt who were Cuban. Tia Isa used to make a lechon and would ship it up to us for Christmas dinner. We haven't had it since my wife's mom passed away 20 years ago.

I'll do a thread with pics. It's currently marinating in the mojo.

Just a series of sad meals made by people who seem to value their boring, bland family recipes. I'm told the secret ingredient is love.

It's like Christmas dinner at Luby's or Cracker Barrel but you have to thank the cook for the love that makes it so awesome.

I'm not allowed to cook because they know I will change the recipes. My love of food and cooking is apparently different from loving quick, easy, and cheap recipes prepared solely because that's the way it's always been done.

Cooked a big crawfish fettuccine to pop in the oven this evening.

Picked up a 9 pound stuffed pork roast from Bergeron's I'm gonna smother tomorrow and make a potato salad with it.

Made a chicken and sausage gumbo last night for the inlaws in Maryland. Was a big hit.

MIL is making crepes christmas morning and we are doing homemade pizza christmas night, as per their family tradition.

That sucks not being in a family that can cook.
We always fight over who is cooking what because people in my family think theirs is better.
Truth is both sides of my family are all damn good cooks. The men and women both

I bought gumbo ingredients and a calf round steak but I'm sick as a dog and don't have the energy to cook it.

When I turn down round steak & rice/gravy you know I'm sick.

Lasagna, green bean casserole, and garlic bread tonight.

Beef tenderloin, twice baked potatoes, and roasted Brussels sprouts tomorrow. Apple pie for dessert and lots of beer, wine, and whiskey along the way.

Tonight will be chicken parm for the wife and I. Add in a couple bottles of wine from our recent Napa trip. Finish with watching the movie Elf (she's never seen it).

Tomorrow will be a whole beef tenderloin done sous vide and finished on the Egg. Served with my homemade Baked Macaroni and Mshed potatoes with gravy. Not a big stuffing group so we do stove top. And gotta have the flaky biscuits. Family comes over for tomorrow.
