The restaurant at Jefferson Island is a beautiful setting. I don't remember how good the food was, only that I enjoyed the view.

This, the food is very good.

Café Des Ami on Main Street. If you want Mexican and strong margaritas try Tampico's. Clementine's Bon Creole, Victor's, Little River Inn, and Landry's as many have mentioned. Also give Boiling Point and Seafood Connection a try.

basically where I am leaning

Victor's won't cost us much with our coupons,
Bon Creole and Van Winkle are must do's and we will eat downtown for the two dinners.

Clementine seems to be a favorite so we will check that out.

Not a big fan, but if they still have the pork shank on the menu, that was pretty solid.

Any of the places that have been mentioned are good. Little River Inn is very hit or miss in my opinion, so much so that we don't even consider it anymore. You could also try Duffy's Diner on Center St. Trust me it's nothing fancy, but they're consistent.

Does Lagniappe, Too on Main St. still exist? They're Gumbo Z'Herbes used to be excellent! It wasn't on the menu, you had to ask for it.

The gumbo z'herbes was great, very great hole in the wall but they fell victim to not owning the building they were in and the evil owner kept raising their rent til they couldn't afford it anymore.... I still see Elaine and Al at Clementine alot, Al started painting once he retired and has had a few showings

people love them some Tampico in new Iberia for some reason . El Mexicano , Chile verde and Rio Bravo are all much better for authentic Mexican food and good tequila

For casual dining: Duffy's on center street. Chili dog or Strimp PO-Boy

My suggestion at Bon Creole is the crawfish PO-Boy.

Clementines and Little River are ok but mostly hit or miss.

RVW Gardens is good. Lunch only.

Victors isn't bad, but....
Cafe Des Amis > Victors IMO. That $3.95 from your B&B is great and all but the food is not on the same level.

Drive over to loreauville and try the Teche Cafe if time permits.

Clementine's on Main
I've never eaten there, but have looked at the menu and it looks pretty good, but from what I've seen they never seem to have butts in the seats.

I've had raw oysters and some sushi items at Bogangles which weren't too bad, plus two fer one martinis on Tuesdays.

we book a yearly (discover an area around you trip) this year we picked New Iberia, last year was Natchez, next year will be St. Franicisville. I know it makes no sense to pick these places as weekend destinations but it's neat to explore the towns around you.

I think that's a great thing to do. I've done the same thing in a few places. Sometimes even just a day trip.

Been wanting to do this same thing with my pops since his mom was originally from there, look forward to your reviews.

This guy pretty much nailed it. Add Viators to the list for a chilidog(on french bread with homemade chili) and you're gtg. Don't go to El Mexicano unless you like to be poisoned.
