When I was a kid, getting the French dip from Brewbachers was my ultimate meal. Nowadays I have no idea.

Eta the pu pu platter at Bamboo Garden was the....well you know. Loved ordering that as a kid.

Not a restaurant, but Calvin's chicken salad crack is a must try.

I also include oysters rock, shrimp remoulade and souffleed potatoes along with some other old school items at Galatoire's.

The chargrilled oysters at Mansur's are also like crack to me.

I forgot to mention the ginger naan at India's.

Sure you get complimentary naan at any Indian place, and the ala carte garlic naan is always better, but India's is the only place around I know that serves ginger naan.

Dixie Maid cheeseburger, Catfish or chicken sandwich at Delpits Chicken Shack (both under $3 and frikkin good)

Roasted boar chops and mushrooms and pimento soup at Maison LaCour. They too have the crab and Brie with asparagus which I'm a fan of there or Mansurs.

As much as I don't really care for the place-a dozen raw oysters sitting at the bar in Mike Anderson's with an ice cold beer is hard to beat.

Pasta carbonara at Diguilios Sunday brunch with a glass of their house chianti.

Sirloin burger and a martini in Jubans bar, the duck, spinach omelet on the brunch menu. I'm not a fan of soft shell crab but they do it right there.

Some pork soup at Beausoleil that I have no clue what it was.

The chicharon taco with lime, onion and cilantro at LaMorenita as well as the pork rib taco with salsa verde.

If Ruffinos has a dry aged ribeye it is worth it to get medium rare. Nicely done.

Grilled red snapper with some light roasted tomatos at Roberto's when he has it.

The Brie, mushroom and asparagus pasta at Ninos, also with heirloom tomatos. And his charcuterie is better than any around including City Pork.

Roasted salmon salad with Meyer lemon vinegerette at Bocage for lunch.

Smoked turkey and creme cheese bagel sandwich at New York Bagel.

A nice fried egg on any hot dog at Dat Dawg and next door whatever they are serving at Magpie Cafe.

The quinoa soup, black bean soup and the cheese pesto sandwich at MJ's Cafe or any of her soups or sandwiches. Best vegetarian in town bar none.

Brisket Pho at whatever the place is next to Hong Kong Market. Where Saigon was first.

Plate lunch at Tony's. Phenomenal greens among other.

Smothered pork at Fresh Marche in Prairieville. Tons of garlic over rice. Good stuff.

Fried turkey wings at the Vietnamese market on Florida Street just past BR General on right.

Crawfish bisque at Don's Seafood on Airline. Gumbo too.
