I would drive 2 blocks and get a better poboy at Bevi seafood. Peacemaker and the Cochon de lait are both top notch

yeah, food snobs are like misic snobs. if something is popular with the hoi polloi, it can't be good anymore.

Sorry, no. It's a bland sandwich. I eat at Parkway once or twice a month. Their roast beef is still mediocre.

Honestly I thought the same thing. I had just moved to NOLA a few years ago and went to Parkway because I heard they had a killer roast beef. It was fine but the beef was bland. Wasn't impressed at all.

And I'm certainly no NOLA Poboy snob. I simply haven't had enough exposure. But I wouldn't return there for that one.

I prefer the muffaletta at Nor-Joe Importing Co. to Central Grocery.

The best sandwich I've had recently in Baton Rouge is the BBLTA at Pimanyoli's. It's a brisket, bacon, lettuce, tomato and smoked apple slices on Texas toast.

Yeah I'm not sure what is "snobbish" about calling a spade a spade. Almost everyone I know personally who has eaten at Parkway agrees their roast beef is mediocre at best. The anomaly seems to be the person who raves about it.

Guess it's easier for some folks to just yell "food snob!" rather than engage in actual discussion.

My favorite Muffaletta is DiMartino's. The roast beef is solid too

Agreed. R&O's and Chateau on the westbank are light years better. Did not expect it, but Blue Crab is considerably better too. So is Mr Ed's and countless other places. Not sure how the myth of the Parkway roast beef got started, but it sucks.

For an alternative poboy, you could go with BlackenedOuts's better half's fat kid special at Liuzza's by the track...paneed chicken topped with roastbeef.

Alright i know it is north louisiana, but a build your own at Deli Casino in shreveport.

Roast beef, pastrami, LTO, olive mix, creole mustard, pickle, oil/vinegar. Cant beat it. And the owners are some special hearted people to take make it even better.

Deli Casino is the balls. Also I truly love the plain turkey sandwich at Rollin' In The Dough. Probably the best sandwich bread I've ever had. Their burger is super legit as is their fried catfish platter.

Real Pickle has some good stuff as well. Fertita's muffaletta is clutch is you like the mustard take. Shrimp buster at Herby K's is a joke though.

Had a surf n turf from Parkway. Ok roast beef and the shrimp had a slight iodine taste.

Best roast beef is at Harry's in Larose!
Soft shell crab poboy at Coco Marina is damn good too

3 pages and not one mention of the Muffaletta at Anthony's? I vote Anthony's Muffaletta as #1, any other sandwich at Anthony's as #2, Roast beef from Bear's in Covington as #3.
