I don't have a problem sending an e-mail. B and Boo - Can you give some bullet points on what to say? There was a lot of back and forth over what was and what wasn't allowed. If everyone starts writing in and complaining about faux issues, the e-mail campaign could become counterproductive.
Someone on here needs to write the correct letter and post it so all can copy and paste to the proper politicians in each ones district. I get them all the time from groups and forward. Even if they get a bunch of the same letter it's enough to make them pay attention. I'm sure a beer reading attorney could pro bono anonymously for the board.
And why would Monroe complain? What am I missing there?

Because Portico is upset that Flying Tiger took both of their customers.

For me this is the big thing. I've already seen a couple of "frick the ATC" style posts from hot headed people on FB. Really need to wait until it gets hashed out before complaining.
But to me the ATC is doing nothing but stunting craft brewing growth in Louisiana. Something which in my opinion adds a great deal to our culture, our communities, our value as a tourist destination and our economy.

Here is the latest on this situation, from the Advocate: Advocate Article on New Interpretation of Tied House Laws

So now, more than ever, will I refuse to give any of my money to Smokie Bourgeois or John Delgado. Rather than improve their terrible business model and restaurants they choose to eliminate the competition.

One new regulation that was added in the final draft is that brewery restaurant sales must be “incidental to the beer sales,” and can not exceed 25 percent of what breweries get from beer sales.
This new regulation will shut down the newly opened BBQ restaurant in NOLA Brewery, according to Coco, who is also the founder and CEO of the New Orleans based business. On Saturday evening the ATC proposed changing that to 25 percent of all sales, according to Coco, who added this would be "more than adequate."
If food sales can go up to 25% of all sales, and that includes beer sold to distributors, then that's really a non-issue at any current brewery.
I don't know why there has to be a rule about food sales vs. beer sales though. Seems like government overreach to me.

That's good ole baw politics at its best. But people keep voting them in.

Yeah, 25% of beer sales makes no sense. Honestly, any limit makes no sense.
A person buys a $10 BBQ Plate, now NOLA has to sell them $40 in beer to stay in compliance.

ATC Commissioner Juana Marine-Lombard was aware of investments like Coco’s when the advisory was issued on the new rules, ATC Chief of Staff Ernest Legier said Friday.
Legier said the 25 percent rule on food was a “huge compromise” in that food service wasn’t specifically allowed under state law governing breweries as he interprets it.
“You also have entities that have invested hundreds of thousands, sometimes a few million dollars in something that is really good for the state and we don’t want to take away their ability to fully utilize that investment,” Legier said, as to the reason for the compromise on food sales.
frick this guy

Am I crazy for wanting legislation introduced to make the ATC commissioner an elected position? I would like to know the candidates position on these topics instead of them being "appointed."
Of course the lobbyists will still get their way..
