Anyone have a direct email?
I penned a letter:
ATC,
As a Louisiana resident I would like to voice my disagreement with the new 'interpretation' of a number of laws regarding local brewers advertising and hosting events on their property. Personally I feel that brewers located in the state of LA are important small businesses that contribute to the economy and culture of our state. The recent accosting and accusing brewers of making beer somehow incidental to an event on-site, by advertising a band or food that will be available is not an accurate interpretation of the law in my opinion considering the events are centered around the sale of beer that is brewed on site. The 'Grand Reserve Day' at Parish Brewing is a great example of this: the event is centered around a highly anticipated beer that is being released, but food and other activities are part of the event.
The fact that this interpretation of the law hurts the brewers (an important part of Louisianas small business community) makes it seem like it is being done to cater to someone else's interests. I certainly hope that is not the case.
A concerned citizen,

Seems to me, at some point, this should draw some local media attention.

From Tin Roof: We just want to say thank you to everyone who came out and supported the charitable event yesterday, put on by the Brasseurs A La Masion (a local homebrew group) at Tin Roof, we absolutely love bringing people together and giving back to our community because we believe that's what helps Baton Rouge grow. Due to a miscommunication with the ATC, we did not receive an email asking us to have our taproom closed during the event, so we are going to donate 100% of the $1184 made in sales during the event to the event's charity. Thank you again to everyone who came out yesterday, thank you to the ATC for letting this event happen and thank you to the Brasseurs for making it all possible! We ?? you Baton Rouge #geauxlocal #tinroofbeer #brasseursalamasion

Well, if we don black masks, bash in Starbuck's windows, and blame it on Trump, will we make a difference?

He probably typed out "frick you" ten times before he finally put thank you and hit submit

Probably, but either way they took the high road. I thought that was a great post and nice gesture.

True. They took the high road.
But this is what allows shite like this to continue. I get it. They don't want to make an enemy of the ATC and become their primary target.
But there has got to be some State Legislators with enough balls to look into this.

Since the breweries can't advertise special events, is there a 3rd party facebook page or something that can advertise for them? Now more than ever these local guys need our support.
edit:sending your letter gorilla...I tweaked it a little, but also added this to the end:
"Please feel free to reach out to me with an appropriate response to the agencies recent actions. I have copied my State Senator, State Representative and EBR Metro Council member as well so their offices can be made aware of the recent actions that the ATC has taken against small businesses in Louisiana."
Search your state senators and reps here:

If I get a response, I'll post it.

Anyone but the breweries themselves can promote special events. The actual bands/food trucks/trivia hosts, etc. can promote all they want, even mentioning the specific brewery. Individuals and blogs can promote all they want.

quote:Well this place sure has praised this place for the longest time. I wish the local people would elect to not go to this place anymore.
The root of a lot of these current issues starts with some retailers or trade groups of retailers complaining to the ATC that brewers are "acting too much like retailers" and essentially taking their business.

Do we know for sure that Avenue Pub is stiring shite?
I know they used to have a great relationship with Nola and some of the other breweries as they were at the pub sometimes doing tastings and such

No.
I highly doubt they would be the ones stirring shite.
I don't think it's really stemming from BR or NOLA.

I agree with this.

From what I understand, there's definitely a New Orleans component to the complaints. But not from the major craft beer bars.
Shreveport, Monroe and Lake Charles have been the source of a lot of the complaints.

My guess would be Shreveport and Monroe.
