The SO wants to go take a tour of the Myrtles Plantation this Saturday in St. Francisville. I've never been and was checking out the website which lead me to the Carriage House.

Should we eat there or are there better places around town?

TIA

Eh, not a bad place. It's more of a nicer dining experience than anything else in town. Food is not bad but I haven't been in a while. Magnolia Cafe is always the go-to restaurant, but it all depends on what kind of dining experience you're looking for.

I ate there a long time ago. Different owners at that time, so it's not really relevant.

Is the restaurant at The Bluffs open? It used to be pretty good, but it's been a long time since I've been there and maybe before it went public.

I didn't care for Magnolia Cafe. Was nothing to write home about every time I've been there.

Any suggestions for other restaurants in the area?

McDonald's, churches chicken, sonic.

For real tho, new place called Robans just opened up on the southside of town, right off 61. Haven't eaten there, but have heard good things. I would recommend the Bluffs over Carriage House. Or the Magnolia. That's about all of your choices.

The owners have a restaurant in west money as well, which is called Cheniere Shack. Not sure if the menus are the same, but Robans is steak and seafood.

The Bluffs is a nice atmosphere with pretty views of the bluffs if the food is still good.

We went to the bluffs last year and the food was pretty good. We went to carriage house this sunday after my sons baptism and it was very good. I tried the: shrimp and corn soup, sweet potato fries, fried fish, fried shrimp and sauteed catfish with crab meat. It was all good.

Bit the dust. It is shuddered and closed.

Prior to the weekend, the kitchen staff walked out. The waitstaff was worse.

It's a shame. He spent 2 years remodeling it himself. Probably dumped a considerable amount of money.

The door was swinging, but it just didn't deliver. In any category.

I wanted to like it. I went twice fwiw.

For a quick bite, the answer is The Francis. Check out their fb page.
