you do know that's the wrong play statistically?
Yep. Don't care. It makes it more fun for me, and that's what I'm there for. It's not so much of a disadvantage that I'm worried about it.
And on the subject of taking pics of food at restaurants... who cares? But be respectful and turn the flash off. That can disturb other tables.

I turn the shutter sound off and don't use a flash..

I only do it when I know I'm going to write a review of the food on here or Yelp or somewhere like that.
This is why it doesn't bother me. I'm not big on taking pictures of my food, but I do appreciate seeing them when I look up a restaurant on yelp or urbanspoon. So, more power to those folks, because in the end they're helping me out.
Loud mouths, kids running wild, and people that smack when they eat are infinitely more annoying than picture takers.
ETA: I saw this pic on yelp the other day...more of these pics are certainly welcome because I love Sopa de Fideo.

I've done it.
I have to use a flash, though, or the cleavage shot I'm angling to get won't show up very well...

You know I do. I don't care what someone else thinks and I don't care if others do it. I don't use the flash unless I'm positive I'm far enough away for it not to be in someone's face. I can't remember when I've used a flash, though.
Lots of people take pics of their groups at large tables. Sometimes couples have wait folks take their pics, especially visitors to New Orleans. They use a flash. Don't care about that either. They're having fun on a trip, but then again, I rarely get riled up over what people at other tables are doing or wearing. I love a good people watching table. My Mom likes to look around a lot more than I ever do, but she is amused by looking and then guessing relationships and backgrounds etc... about people.

It doesn't bother me as long I'm not hearing repetitive "clicks" or seeing flashes. There are much more annoying things such as people talking on their phones, etc

I find the flash ruins photos. People using flash doesn't bother me, but unless in an EXTREMELY dark place, it usually makes the plating look much worse to use flash.

If I am going to do a review or post on here, I may take a few quick discreet pictures never with flash. Also usually will only do that with certain family members or select friends. I have family who find it tacky to take your phone out at dinner for any reason.
I never take pictures to share on FB/Instagram.

what about regular people pulling out a DLSR to take pics? is that frowned upon? assume they have a blog?
Posted on 10/22/14 at 1:37 pm to Salmon
I've never in my life seen that. I guess I'd assume they were a blogger, yeah.
Friend of mine has her own blog and writes for Country Roads, but she always has interviews with owners, so I don't really imagine her in a restaurant with a date pulling out her camera. I imagine it's a more planned thing.

So where were the tacos from ?
Posted on 10/23/14 at 8:22 am to TigerWise
Del Fuego. Had the lengua, carnitas and pescada.
My second visit and I like it more than I did the first time (when I was disappointed).

What a mess. Visually unappealing.
Could taste good, though.

No. It's marinara sauce.
