I think it's pretty ridiculous to be honest. Unless you have a good camera, the food ALWAYS looks like shite and nobody wants to see it. I laugh at people when I see them taking pics at restaurants but to each his own. I always put my phone away at dinner.

Eta: taking pictures of your food is like taking selfies at the gym. It's all about the attention.

Having your phone out while you eat is pretty disgusting. All those germs you get on your phone while taking a poop don't need to be around food.

I'm not sure if you're joking. I was just raised by my parents to put my phone away at dinner.

Eta. I don't have poop fragments on my phone

I'm always embarrassed when I do it. But I still do it sometimes.

It's absurd for me to feel that way. I'd rather look at pictures of food on the internet than someone's kid.

What?

How much attention are you attracting by taking out your cell phone and taking a quick picture? I would say the entire process take 4 seconds.

Send me a pic of your breakfast

Eta: so posting pictures of your high dollar meal on social media isn't seeking attention? Please explain.

Go read your initial comment. You said "taking pictures of your food was like gym selfies".

You didn't mention anything about social media.

If posting pics to TD foodboard is attention seeking than I am guilty!

I understand that. Not trying to start an argument, I just think it's rude to take your phone out at the table and take pictures.

I could see that in certain situations

having dinner with your inlaws at Commanders, yeah I wouldn't take my phone out and start snapping pics

but just me and the wife having dinner and drinks at a new place that I plan on writing a review, meh, take a quick pick, put the phone back in the pocket and never miss anything in the coversation

I like when people post food. I don't think it has anything to do with bragging about the money you've spent. At least not when I do.

As do I, which is why I read this board frequently. There's a difference between posting about your cooking at the house and posting about your meal at a nice sit down restaurant. Sorry for rustling jimmies. I love this board.

do you not read reviews for restaurants? and if you do, do you not like to see pics of the food?

See above, but no, I don't decide on what to eat based on how it looks on a blog.

I like both. I look places up on Yelp and on here every time I'm trying somewhere new. There are restaurants with tons of photos of their dishes, and it's a huge help.

It's not that hard to believe that a lot of people like to see. I've ordered things before thinking they'd be one thing and they're something totally different. Seeing photos definitely doesn't hurt.

So you're a frequent reader of this board, love this board and have never read a restaurant review? You don't use restaurant reviews to help guide decisions.

I think that's fantastic!!
