A bit off topic, but does Tin Roof in BR open their doors on a regular basis to the public and host events?

Sweetwater does a fantastic job of being part of the Atlanta community, and the tours/happy hours/corporate events are a big hit among the locals. I've never been to Tin Roof to know what kind of setup they have, but I imagine any brewery with a central location in a city can learn from what Sweetwater does in Atlanta. Happy Hours and Saturday afternoons are packed.

What has changed now that we get all of these beers?

A bigger choice of good beers. The more people drink craft beer, the better it is for the beer scene. More companies coming into Louisiana shows that the interest in craft brews in LA is on the rise, imo.

Craft brew movement is in hyperdrive now, and I'm all for it.

Is the craft beer availability that bad in Louisiana? Living in NC, I can name 10 IPA's I'd prefer over Sweetwater: Stone, Founders, Bells, Terrapin, Dogfish, Lagunitas, Bear Republic, Southern Tier, Green Flash, etc. Is this the Yeugeling phenomenon? And their other beers are nothing to write home about.

IPA is delicious and now available in 12 packs. Happy Ending is a really good imperial stout.

Also, I've got a friend coming down from Tuscaloosa to Nola this weekend. Any good local Louisiana or Texas beers that I should ask him to bring back that we don't get up here. We get the basics from there like Shiner, Abita, and Nola. Didn't know if there was anything special that I should tell him to look for. Thanks for any feedback.

The farther east and farther north you get the better selection you get.

Hmmm I'm pretty sure the west coast wins the region argument.

Karbach would be great to have in Louisiana.

When is Sweetwater coming, did they say a date?

No, the craft beer scene is not that bad here. Sweetwater IPA is good, but there are better IPAs available here. It is just nice to have some variety/other options.

Of those, we only get Stone and Green Flash. Southern Tier is coming in May. But I think their IPA is fantastic, and I will always have some on hand once it's available. The other regular offerings are nothing to write home about,

I'll even go on record as saying that I personally like their IPA better than Bell's Two Hearted Ale. THA is more balanced and drinks easy for a 7% IPA, but the nose on the SweetWater IPA is better and the finish isn't as sweet. And at 6.3%, it's really drinkable. And that's not meant as a knock on THA, it just means that as good as that one is, I like SW slightly better. Something about the grapefruit bomb that is SW works really well for me. I know I'll get hammered for that opinion, but I like what I like. Guess I'll have to do a maven blind taste test.

I'm with you, though I've never understood the love for THA

I think I need to try it again just to make sure though

Interesting... I know I like both of them A LOT. Will be glad to get in on a Maven test.

It's been way too long since I've had a Sweetwater IPA... I don't remember it being anything too special, just an above average IPA.
