potted meat sandwiches

My favorite "while fishing meal" as a kid, all the way up to end of college days.

I may need to go to Kroger and get me a can tonight. I have more than enough saltine crackers to make do.

The stuff is a perfect combination of soy flour, mixed with all of the stuff from a pig you would never consider eating, unless to like head cheese, which many who post here cherish like fine wine. I know that because they like to share their recipes in photo posts and rave about how good it was.

Right Otis and Balls (and others)?

Not sure about the pineapple/Miracle Whip, but I have had canned pears topped with a dollop of mayo and shredded cheddar with cherries on top, and it's legit. Crystal Grill in Greenwood MS serves it.

canned pear halves with a spoonful of mayo in the hole topped with some cheddar cheese. It was delicious.

This is a staple at funerals way out in the country. Old country folks (including my grandparents) absolutely love these.

My MIL (may she RIP) made that for pretty much every holiday gathering. I like it.

I attended a party where one of the more "rural" families brought Cracker Salad - crackers, mayo, tomatoes, egg, salt and pepper.

Paula Deen's recipe for Georgia Cracker Salad has 99 reviews with a 5 star rating. People rave about how good it is. LINK

A friend told me they saw her do it on TV, and I've laughed about it since. All those glowing reviews make me think it might be worth a try.

I love fried chicken gizzards.....and smothered turkey necks too. Just not sure if that falls on the grossest/trashiest food list.

Who am I kidding? This is the FDB! Of course it does!

I like potted meat sammiches, vienna sausage, and fried spam sammiches too. And my trailer park only has double-wides. So there's that....

I recently tried boiled peanuts with smoked pigtails. Now I normally don't care too much for boiled peanuts because of the texture but, these were slightly toothy and the smoked pigtails added a whole-nutha-level of enjoyment. I even took some home!

The wife-lady will make S.O.S. (Sh*t on a Shingle) every now and then. Her version is browned ground beef, onions, and cream of mushroom soup. She serves is with toast but I opt for saltines. I also add a little louisiana hot sauce and Lea & Perrins to it. It's trashy but good!

I melt down hot (spicy) hogsheads cheese in a skillet with some onions, throw it in corn tortilla and slather it with sour cream and cilantro. Good stuff.

I used to have to endure an ex-girlfriend's family functions where the same people would make the same exact gross stuff every time.

The highlight was always the uncle's macaroni & cheese in one of those giant aluminum pans, so feel free to use his lovely recipe:

1/3 macaroni

1/3 butter

1/3 Velveeta
