I cooked some black eyed peas exactly one week ago (last Monday). Also, has a little ham in them.
Been in the refrigerator other than taking them out to eat some late last week.
Surprisingly (to me at least), the info on the Interwebzzzz pretty much says no (4 or 5 day limit). What does the food board say?

You'll never know if you don't try.

If they don't smell bad, just bring em to a boil on the stove for a few minutes, and you'll be fine.

That ship sailed awhile back.

As a general rule of thumb, I don't eat anything that's been in the fridge for longer than a week. I may go a week and a day if it was something really good and I would feel guilty for throwing it out.

I'd probably eat them tonight if they still smelled OK, but throw out any leftovers.

That's how I'm leaning at the moment.

You know times are getting tough when you gotta risk week old beans.

Just don't complain when the checks stop coming .

You're not going to die. You're just going to be miserable as hell for a while. Too bad you've reached the desperate point at which you must eat week old black eyed peas.

I would eat them since I do it all the time. I'm the only one in the family that will eat them after day one so I always have week old beans since I can't eat them everyday.
Right now I have week old chicken and sausage gumbo and it is heating on the cooktop as I type this smelling good.
Don't give up on a mess of beans just because it's got a little funk on em.

I'll often freeze peas, beans and such at 7 days to go in a soup or stew down the road.

Believe it or not, the beans are more of a threat than the ham. When in doubt, throw it out.

Got hooted, pulled seafood gumbo out of brothers fridge late one night. Noticed it was bubbling a bit. Said eff it, nuked the shite out of it and I'm still alive. Brother and family were amazed. Threw it out next day and it killed the grass!

I hate to admit I'm a bit middle aged and like to think I've still got just a touch of cool left in me but I'm going to have to naively ask just what the frick hooted means?
