Restaurant/Food help For Road Trip to Labadieville and Thibodaux

Just planned a road trip tomorrow with my grandfather to see where he was born and raised. He is 85 and talks about where he grew up all of the time. I'm hoping to make this a memorable day for the both of us. I've really never been to that area of the state to eat. Don't need anything fancy for my coonass grandfather but I have the whole day to explore and check some things out. Any help/suggestions for me between NOLA and Labadieville will be much appreciated. In addition to food, cool landmarks would be awesome as well.

Can't help with suggestions, but I would love to make that drive.

I have been to Spahr's several times on Hwy 90 and the catfish chips are good. Just wanting to try something different.

There's a cafe, Amy and Emily's Cajun Cafe, that might be worth a stop. On 1 south toward Thibidoux. (Never been there myself).

Downtown Thibodaux has a few dining options. The Venetian, weeping willow. Nubby ducks in Labadie. He may even know the lady who owns it.

I would love to be able to take a trip down (or up, in your case) the bayou with my grandparents again. Do it. Ask him lots of questions & take pictures...
Tasty, but in the opposite direction of Labadieville. Amy & Emily's is a charming option, just don't expect fancy or gourmet. Thib has the most choices, from the roast beef poboys at the Frostop, to the slightly upscale (for Thib) Fremin's (decent array of lunch specials).
Tourist sights: Slight south of Thib on LA 308 is Laurel Valley Store, a historic plantation store/museum. Lots of old farming implements, artifacts from the plantation's heyday, and generally friendly volunteers who like to talk. laurel valley hours, etc
Downtown Thibodaux still has the old courthouse, and the Jean Lafitte National Park Wetlands Acadian Center is just north of downtown on LA 1 (technically called St Mary St at that point). Wetlands Acadians Cultural Center The center is on the bayouside, with a dock overlooking the bayou behind it. If Grandpere is into boats, the Nicholls State U library has an interesting display collection of wooden pirogues in many styles from various culture areas of LA, rowing skiffs, etc.
In Labadieville, St Philomena Church is historic & quite interesting. If Grandpere is Catholic, this would have been his parish church. Interesting cemetery too. St Philomena website

I've had breakfast at Amy & Emily's and it was really good. Home cooked biscuits.
