Yeah, we paid $10 for a 5 oz. bottle of children's Claritin at target. Costco sell a two pack of 6 oz. bottles for $15.

You really get into savings if the Kirkland brand works for you.

I wondered about this last time I was there. Didn't buy because I needed to research prices first. My allergies are awful. Anyone have experience with the kirkland brand allergy meds?

Dunno about kirkland brand, but Costco sells "real" Flonase for way way cheaper than your local drugstore or WalMart.

Saw that too. I considered picking some up, but I thought they only sold like 3 packs and since I've never used flonase I didn't want to buy 3 the first time

We buy ALL our OTC meds from Costco now. For us, The Executive membership was a no brainer. We are in there every weekend. Our check last year more than paid for the whole membership. We love hitting all the samples around lunch time on the weekends. The only problem with that is we usually buy the item as well. We appreciate being able to taste the item before we buy. One item that we did NOT like was the queso blanco dip. It was a salt lick.

Clark Howard once described the difference between the three major Warehouse clubs:

1.) BJ's - Has the highest prices of the three, but carries the best selection. In Sam's or Costco, you might get a choice of 2 types of toothpaste, for example. In BJ's you would have 10 choices.

2.) Sam's. Cheapest. Not the highest discounts, but the cheapest prices, meaning that the quality of products is low, as well.

3.) Costco. Best quality (especially in the house Kirkland brand). Costco also offers the steepest discounts. You may be able to find a bicycle for less money at Sam's, but you'll be comparing apples to oranges, because in general, you'll pay more for a higher quality product at Costco.

Clark Howard lives in Atlanta, and Atlanta is one of the few markets that had all three major discount warehouses. I lived in Jacksonville for many years, and we also had all three, so I believe his assessment was correct.

For those askin about the Visa transition. I was at the gas pump yesterday and they had a sign up saying June 19 was the last day to be able to use AmEx, on June 20 Visa would be the only credit card accepted. They will continue to accept debit cards using a PIN for payment.

I have a question about the Avocado Oil.

Is it better for sautéing/high heat or is it more for salad dressings/no heat?

Although some things I read say that it has an unusually high smoke point, the can of avocado oil I have (which I didn't get from Costco) says:

Suitable for medium-high heat: Perfect for sauteeing, baking, dipping, blending into a dressing/sauce, or drizzling onto a finished dish.

Zero carbs and delicious. I haven't used them with dip or hummus, but it's the perfect vehicle. Real parmesan is the only ingredient.

Pricewise, the 9.5 oz bag is $9.95ish. It says 15 servings, but one bag was five servings for me (addictive, hard to stop eating).

2.5 oz bags are $14.95 at Amazon!

There's apparently refined avocado oil and virgin avocado oil. The smoke point for refined is over 500 (good for high heat) and for virgin is 350ish (moderate heat).
