Peche New Orleans Review w/ Pics

TLDR: EFFING AWESOME!

Was in Nola this weekend for French Quarter Fest and wanted to eat 1 good sit down meal while I was in town. Coquette was the original choice of my friend and I, but they were all booked so Peche was next on our list.
I've been before for a late lunch and thought it was great, but didn't get to try as much as I would have liked. This time around though, we ordered 12 different items. Mainly all small plates, appetizers, or sides.


Round 1:

Pictured L-R: Crawfish Bisque, Smoked Tuna Dip, Shrimp Toast, Royal Reds
Everything was top notch. I was surprised at the flavor the of the crawfish bisque. I could have eaten 10 bowls of the stuff.
The tuna dip was excellent. If only they served it by the gallon.
Shrimp toast was different. The pickle threw it off. I ate my second one without the pickle and it was much better. Pickle over powered it.
Royal Reds very tasty. Very juicy. Kind of messy.

Round 2:

Pictured L-R: Fish Sticks, Grilled Lamb Skewer, Hushpuppies, Fried Brussels Sprouts
Fish sticks were very moist. It was an LA 31 beer batter which was really light and crispy. I thought they were fried perfectly. The sauce however was supposed to be a tartar sauce I believe but it was way too much celery salt and not enough dill flavor. But the fish sticks alone were great.
Grilled lamb skewers were one of our favorites. Tons of flavor. The chickpea hummus that came with it really made it a great dish. Perfect humus. Not too creamy.
Hush puppies had a similar problem to the fish sticks. Alone, they were great. With the sauce, way too salty. You can see grains of salt on the hush puppies in the picture, which was good. But the sauce was extremely salty. Double salt over powered the hush puppies. So no sauce was better.
Brussels Sprouts were phenomenal. Which is weird for me to say considering I just never order them or get them. The char on them added incredible flavor. I'll get them every visit.

Round 3:

I hadn't had many run ins with risotto for whatever reason. I guess I'm eating at the wrong places. But this was great. You could get the smoke flavor that's similar in the tuna dip.
The raw oysters were really good as well. I'm not good at really describing food, especially oysters, but I could easily eat these all day.
Tuna was great, but I think we enjoyed the almonds and olives more haha. They really added great texture and flavor the the dish. Raw tuna is so good.

Round 4:

Salted Caramel Cake
All I can say about this is that I can't even think to describe how good this was. I love caramel. I love cake. This was amazing. Great way to finish the meal. The saltiness with it is perfection.

All in all I'd eat every single thing again. Peche is truly rolling full steam right now. The atmosphere was great as well. Can get loud, but we were fine with that.
I highly highly recommend this place to anyone in New Orleans.

Did they have more raw offerings? That's all I want when I go, and tuna doesn't intrigue me that much - though I'd eat it for sure.

Yea. Considering the place is always popping and it was French Quarter Fest. Our reservations were for at 5. Place started getting full around 6 and was packed by the time we left around 7.
I'd probably play it safe and make reservations.

Excellent review!

You tried a few I haven't had yet.

I need to try that crawfish bisque, and I'm intrigued by the risotto dish. I don't remember seeing that on their menu.

That looks great! I tried to get a table Wednesday night for a girl's dinner, but couldn't get in. We're going to Dominique's instead.

I don't mind sharing. We split the bill evenly and each paid $75 before tip. That included a few beers as well. For the amount of food, and more importantly quality of food, I'd gladly pay that again.

They do have more raw offerings. It changes day by day I think. A small raw menu is attached to the full menu, but isn't listed online. I don't remember exactly what was on it, but 3 different types of oysters, a few different fish, and honestly can't remember what else.

Nice. I want to go when I'm in nola next month. I think my opinion is losing to others desire to go to Commander's though.

It was on the little daily specials menu. It was probably one of my favorites of the night.
