They have a great steak at Blackbird. It's not a steakhouse but it's a fantastic restaurant

Go to Sun Wah Barbeque and get the Peking Duck. First time I had it, and I look for Peking Duck when I travel now.
I didn't really want traditional Chicago style pizza, so I was recommended Pequod's. It was excellent. I went to the N. Clybourn location.

Girl and the Goat is a must and I know a lot of people will recommend it.
Alinea if you're willing to drop a decent amount of money on dinner.

I was just up there last week
Au Cheval burger was awesome. I was lucky to walk in a sit right at bar without waiting.
Pequods for pizza
I had Volare italian one night. Pretty good but not amazing
Joe Steak and Stone crab was really good.

Ditka's
Don't go to Giordano's. It's everywhere and is okay at best. I see it's recommended everywhere.

Pequod's is more like a pan pizza, but it's good.
I personally prefer a good New York style

Right here!
Another F&DB poster that lives in Chicago told me to save the list. I did and actually added several spots that slipped my mind the first time (couple listed below). It's at work, so I'll post when I'm back in the office on Monday morning.
ETA: I'll just answer what OP is looking for, though...
- Best steakhouse: I've been to Kinzie, Bavette's and Swift & Sons. All three are fantastic. If I were you, I wouldn't count-out Tango Sur, an Argentinian steakhouse along the Southport Corridor in Lakeview.
- Best pizza: If looking for deep dish, I would recommend Lou Malnati's, Pequod's and Art of Pizza. If looking for neapolitan-style, my favorite has been Coalfire.
- Best sushi: There are a few random spots scattered throughout the city (i.e. Uni Sushi, Butterfly, Sushi X), but I would highly-recommend Sushi Dokku and Momotaro in West Loop. Both have subterranean lounges (Booze Box and Izakaya).
- Best seafood: Cold Storage and GT Fish & Oyster.

One of the best meals I’ve had in Chicago was Go 4 Food. Incredible dishes.

We're going thanksgiving weekend. I booked girl and the goat. Gonna try for au cheval and will likely hit pequods for pizza. Had pequods last summer and it was delicious. The other two didn't get to go to.

Uno's Due's, Gino's and Lou Malnati's are all basically the same....do one of them. giordano's is not my favorite.
old school: miller's pub, italian village, berghof
good food: la scarola
fancy: girl and the goat, publican, anything west loop
also: for something legit, go to Al's Italian Beef. get either a beef, dipped with both kinds of peppers, or a good hot dog. their fries are also the best i've ever had.

Go to Momotaro for sushi. Do the omakese with the wine pairing. Best nigiri I've ever had. Bring a bank roll.
