Need a FQ location for a Cocktail Reception/Party

I'm looking for a place to host a cocktail party this summer in the French Quarter. Ideally, I would start off with a tab, say $1,000-$2,000 and it would be a cash bar thereafter. Probably 100 people or so. Extra points given for scenery or view - not looking for the upstairs of Razoo's.
My first idea was the pool deck at Monteleone, but the minimum is $10k.

The Chicory would be good...but pricey.
Have you looked into Jax?

For a wedding party or just a basic party?
$2,000 can go very quickly for 100 or so people.
Try and rent out the courtyard at Cafe Amelie.

Most of the good places require a minimum amount of spend.
Napoleon House has some good deals starting at 25 bucks a person.

I hate to burst your bubble, but no bar in the Quarter is going to do a private party at $10 bucks a head. At least not shutting down the place and making it a true private party.

Post rehearsal dinner cocktail reception. Very casual. I don't feel obligated to have an open bar for very long but I'm sure a cash bar would hit any reasonable minimum requirement.

Well no shite. And that's the central question: how does one rent a place and have a cash bar? Do they tally their receipts at the end of the night and say "we sold X, so you owe us the difference" or "we hit the minimum so it's all good on our end"? I'm fine agreeing to a higher minimum with the confidence that the guests (is that the wrong term when they're paying for themselves?) will spend enough.

You could try the upstairs room and balcony overlooking Jackson Square at Muriel's, but not for that price for 100 people, I don't believe.
Are you planning to provide one drink per person, no food and a cash bar thereafter? I'm not sure I understand the conception of hosting and then having the guests pay.

So basically what you want to do is take the whole crew to a bar after a rehearsal dinner and buy the first round of drinks.
The easiest way to do this, is to just take the whole crew to a bar after the rehearsal dinner and buy the first round of drinks. I wouldnt bother with renting a place out and all that foolishness.

Yes. More accurately to invite the people not attending the rehearsal dinner to a central location but the point stands.

So just do that. Tell everyone not going to the rehearsal dinner to meet at ___ bar at ____ o'clock. And buy the first round. You will probably come out much cheaper than 1K-2K.
Shoot go to Patrick's Bar Vin and just buy 10 bottles of Grower Champagne for the crew. That'll run you about $700 bucks. And then everyone can stagger over to Old Absinthe House and have their wallets stolen.

You could try Galvez or Pat O's on the River. Not sure they do strictly cocktail parties, though.

Wedding venue the next night. This Patrick's Bar Vin spot looks promising.

These are two solid suggestions, but it sounds like the OP doesn't need a rented spot.
Sounds like you're just looking for a spot to have a toast.

Exactly. I should have titled this "what's a FQ bar that has a courtyard that will be relatively quiet early on a Friday evening".

I agree
If it's early in the night, I would just hit up Jax before the douche crowd rolls in. They have a huge outside patio that the group could just take over.

I still stand by Napoleon House.
you get an open bar for 2 full hours and 5 stations of Hors d’oeuvres..for only 25 bucks a person
LINK
for 100 people, I can't think of anywhere you can go and crash a bar for 1 drink…sounds like a logistical nightmare

I've been to the Riverview room and I think, if it's an off night for them, it may fit your bill. May need a few more bills though.

Is this your wedding?
It sounds like you are going to have to go through a lot of trouble to find a spot to have a drink in Quarter, which really shouldnt be that hard.
Maybe try Cane and Table they have a nice courtyard
