Again. My apologies for talking about food. I realize this is a sensitive area to discuss that.

cancer has hit my family and friends too dam hard
Thanks for pulling this post back toward the original intent OG.
Cancer has reached out to touch my family and friends lately, too. It is among the worst of the worst and Chili's has reached out to touch something no one said they had to touch.
To walk the halls of St. Jude's and see what Chili's did makes it much easier for me to grasp that chili shaped door pull at a Chili's Restaurant and step inside.
Sorry to have offended anyone.

You guys can say whatever you want about chilis, but they made a fortune in the 90s and are still packed on weekends putting out mediocre chain food because it is what it is.

I'll have to go sometime. Only quit because the damn place stayed packed without me.

It's amazing to me how people talk about tax write offs, like it all of a sudden isn't money anymore
Posted on 7/26/14 at 1:27 pm to MeridianDog
shite I like chilis I understand what it is, I guess if you go expecting Commanders you may be disappoint.
Lou down the street takes a chicken breast and pitches it in a grill, lays it between a bun and it is a great chicken Sand.
Luis at Chilis does it and all of a sudden it is different.
It is a protein, a heat source, and the odds of getting it to my table with a tasty bun, hot, fresh and clean is better at chilis, they do it a whole lot more.
Kitchen Nightmares shows up at locally owned joints that are filthy, rodent infested and unsafe. They don't have to show up at Chilis

tax write offs
All a tax write off does is require you to give your money away to someone else.
Regardless of what you might think, it's still money you give away and not put into the profits account.

I remember about five years after I started my first business. I told my accountant that I wanted to start utilizing tax write offs, as in boat's, camps etc.
I said, wait a second, this isn't the way tax write offs are supposed to work, is it? Lol

I have no problems with Chilis, but I'm also not a pretentious douche like many on here.
I don't go often but when I do, I get the chicken fried steak. It is better than anywhere else around here. Even Dempseys which is great.
The only other thing I sometimes get is the Southwest Eggrolls if we're having drinks at the bar.
At then end of the day, it will make a turd.

Man I can't understand why people still reply to Mike da Douche on here, if everyone just ignored him he'd probably go away.

Well first you don't "write off " 100%. Maybe expense out 50% or carry it for a few years but you still spend the money and get "some" tax break. Second it is a publicly traded company who has a fiduciary duty to its stockholders. These are acts of donation that are voted upon by the board and by the stockholders at this level. This was done as a corporate duty to help fund the fight against cancer in children which helps all cancer victims which affects many Americans. If they get some sort of expense deduction why does anyone care? If they paid taxes on 50 million and did not make the donation would the Federal Government then in turn give St Jude 50 million dollars? No. Not at all.
This is the way I see it. As I said I have four friends who had a child go through treatment at St Jude. One family could not afford much and it didn't matter. It was taken care of. One had a child diagnosed with a hardball size brain tumor at 8 pm on Saturday night at OLOL. At 8am Sunday morning they were on a corporate jet out of BR to Memphis. Donated. Did not cost them a dime and their child will live partially because of that act of kindness. Did the owner of the corporate jef get to deduct part of the cost of the round trip flight? Probably so. Should they be able too? Absolutely. Do you think the parents of a 6 year old child with a cancerous brain tumor give a shite about a corporate deduction? Absolutely not. People shite on corporate America all the time and have no clue exactly what these companies do not just for them, for the economy and yes for themselves but also for humanity. It's not all greed.

Almost all the people in my life regularly eat better than Chili's. So no, not miserable in the slightest.
Oh, and we make turds too.

If you don't eat there, won't be eating there, hate the place and don't care to whom they donate, why bother posting in this thread?
I'm curious.

Occasionally, yes, but it doesn't always start off that way, not until the gang shows up and begins putting words and intentions in my mouth. Then it's play time and comic relief for myself. Some of the shite you people will say and think it makes good sense food related is nothing short of epic.

Yeah man, eating at an establishment that generously donates money to find a cure for cancer is comedic gold
Holy shite it's so funny
